Machine Operator Trainee - Metallizing

Job Overview: Saint-Gobain is seeking reliable and mechanically inclined Machine Operator Trainees to join its manufacturing team in San Diego, CA. In this role, you will assist with setting up, operating, monitoring, and troubleshooting metallizing machines used in the production of film materials. Key Responsibilities: Assist with machine setup, operation, monitoring, and basic troubleshooting of metallizing equipment. Inspect raw materials and finished metallized film to ensure product quality. Maintain accurate production records, including run logs, roll tickets, maintenance logs, and inspection records. Follow standard operating procedures, machine setup specifications, and supervisor instructions. Use forklifts and/or pallet jacks to move materials and finished products safely. Monitor machine performance and report production issues or equipment concerns to supervisors. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Record preventive maintenance activities and communicate supply or equipment needs. Follow all company safety policies and immediately report hazards or incidents.

Required Qualifications: High school diploma or GED.Basic math and computer skills. Good mechanical aptitude and logical troubleshooting abilities. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to follow instructions, standard operating procedures, and safety guidelines. Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications: Previous manufacturing or industrial production experience. Prior forklift operating experience. Experience operating, monitoring, or troubleshooting machinery. One to two years of college education or four years of military service.

What We Offer: Competitive pay starting at $23.00 per hour, with additional compensation for applicable shifts. Full-time work with opportunities for overtime. On-the-job training and opportunities to develop machine operation skills. Potential to transition to a permanent position after approximately 3–6 months, based on attendance, reliability, and job performance. Required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety shoes, high-visibility vests, and safety glasses, provided by the company.
