Fleet Diesel Mechanic – Waste Management

GFL Environmental is seeking an Evening Mechanic to maintain and repair a fleet of waste collection and support vehicles. In this role, you will perform inspections, diagnose mechanical and hydraulic issues, complete scheduled and unscheduled repairs, and ensure equipment is safe and compliant. You’ll use diagnostic tools, read technical manuals, and document all work performed. Working in a safety-first, team-oriented environment, you’ll support essential environmental services that keep communities clean and sustainable while gaining training and growth opportunities. Inspect, diagnose, and repair fleet vehicles and equipment during evening shifts Perform preventive maintenance and safety checks on trucks and related equipment Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues using diagnostic tools Complete scheduled and emergency repairs to minimize downtime Maintain accurate service records and documentation in maintenance systems Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and environmental regulations Collaborate with drivers and operations staff to prioritize repairs Order or request necessary parts and materials for repairs Keep shop and work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards Participate in ongoing training to stay current on equipment and repair techniques Diesel engine repair Hydraulic systems maintenance Preventive maintenance Brake systems repair Electrical diagnostics Use of diagnostic tools Welding and fabrication Reading technical manuals Fleet maintenance software Safety and OSHA compliance Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k ASE certifications in Medium/Heavy Truck (preferred) Diesel technician certification (preferred) CDL Class B or higher (preferred) Hydraulic systems training or certification (preferred)
