Material Flow Engineer - Factory & Warehouse Design

Locations: Pittsburgh, PA & Austin, TX (Onsite)

Key Responsibilities: Lead end-to-end material flow and factory warehouse design, from concept through commissioning. Design and optimize automated/semi-automated material handling systems. Work with AGV, AMR, AGC, VRC, Conveyors, Robotics, ASRS, and Docking Systems. Develop factory layouts, capacity models, throughput analysis, and buffer strategies. Perform Discrete Event Simulation (DES) using FlexSim or equivalent tools. Optimize aisle sizing, lineside buffers, finished goods buffers, and material movement. Manage equipment evaluation, vendor selection, RFQs, procurement, FAT/SAT, and commissioning. Integrate material handling systems with PLC, MES, and WMS platforms. Drive continuous improvement using OEE, throughput, downtime, and Lean Manufacturing metrics.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in high-volume manufacturing, battery manufacturing, or energy storage environments. Knowledge of PLC, MES, WMS, and industrial automation integration. Python, SQL, Power BI, or Tableau. Six Sigma Green Belt or Lean Manufacturing certification. Strong project management and vendor coordination experience. Ideal Profile:5+ years of experience in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Handling, Factory Automation, or Warehouse Design, with proven experience delivering end-to-end material flow optimization projects.
