Residential Garbage Truck Driver

GFL Environmental is seeking a dependable Residential Driver to safely collect and transport household waste and recyclables on assigned routes. In this essential frontline role, you will operate commercial collection vehicles, complete pre- and post-trip inspections, follow all DOT and company safety standards, and ensure timely, courteous service to residential customers. You’ll work closely with dispatch and helpers, document loads and routes, and report maintenance needs. Safely operate commercial residential collection vehicles on assigned routes Perform thorough pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and complete required logs Collect household waste and recyclables, ensuring proper loading and secure transport Follow all DOT, traffic, and company safety regulations and procedures Communicate with dispatch regarding route progress, issues, and service exceptions Provide courteous, professional service to residential customers Report vehicle defects, hazards, and incidents promptly to supervisors Maintain clean, organized vehicle and comply with environmental and dumping procedures Commercial driving (CDL Class B or A) Vehicle safety inspection and maintenance checks Operation of hydraulic/packer waste collection equipment Route navigation and time management Knowledge of DOT and local traffic regulations Safe lifting and material handling Basic vehicle troubleshooting Use of onboard routing/telematics systems Customer service communication Recordkeeping and log completion Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Valid CDL Class B (or A) with air brake endorsement Clean driving record meeting DOT and company standards Ability to pass DOT medical exam and drug screening Knowledge of local, state, and federal transportation regulations Experience operating hydraulic/packer or similar waste collection equipment
