Following the retirement of a longtime leader, a privately held steel service center with more than 70 years in business is seeking a General Manager to lead its Detroit operation. This is an opportunity to shape the GM role, lead an experienced team, and make a lasting impact with meaningful autonomy and direct access to executive leadership. What you'll own: Bring production, inside sales, purchasing/materials, inventory, and shipping together around shared priorities Strengthen production planning, operational performance, and on-time customer delivery Develop employees, build accountability, and resolve challenges across departments Serve as the primary connection between the facility and executive leadership Learn the operation before introducing practical, measurable improvements Who we're looking for: A hands-on leader withstrong steel service-center experience, a solid operations/production background, and an understanding of how the entire business connects to customer needs. You'll need to earn respect, lead strong personalities, and support an established workforce. Automotive exposure and purchasing/materials experience are a plus.
