Menarini Silicon Biosystems is a precision oncology diagnostics company operating at the frontier of liquid biopsy, circulating tumor cell (CTC) biology, and single-cell genomics. Menarini Silicon Biosystems aims to become the indisputable leader in non-invasive cell applications, enabling easier, faster, and more precise diagnostics and therapeutic approaches. The company is part of the Menarini Group, one of Europe's largest privately held pharmaceutical and diagnostics organizations. Scroll down for a complete overview of what this job will require Are you the right candidate for this opportunity Menarini Silicon Biosystems operates three integrated commercial platforms: CELLSEARCH, the only FDA-cleared test for capturing and enumerating circulating tumor cells in breast, colorectal, and prostate cancers; DEPArray, a research-use single-cell isolation system; and MenariniSearch, a CLIA/CAP-accredited laboratory testing service that provides broad hematologic and solid-tumor liquid-biopsy profiling. Together, these platforms serve clinical, translational research, and biopharma markets across the United States and globally. Menarini Silicon Biosystems is now in an active growth phase in the United States. The CELLSEARCH platform has a clinical validation track record that most liquid biopsy competitors cannot match, and the company is expanding both its direct commercial footprint and clinical adoption of newer offerings, including the Circulating Multiple Myeloma Cell (CMMC) test, a blood-based tool for non-invasive serial monitoring of multiple myeloma, a disease area where the standard of care still relies heavily on invasive bone marrow biopsies. Products CELLSEARCH is the first and only FDA-cleared in vitro diagnostic test for the capture, detection, and enumeration of circulating tumor cells from whole blood in patients with metastatic breast, colorectal, and prostate cancers. This regulatory clearance provides CELLSEARCH with clinical validity and a reimbursement story that no research-use liquid biopsy competitor can replicate a powerful differentiator in conversations with oncology providers, pathology labs, and hospital systems. CTC counts from CELLSEARCH have been shown to be independent prognostic indicators of overall survival, making the test clinically actionable in ways that many next generation biomarker tools are not yet. CMMC test represents one of the company's most significant near-term clinical growth opportunities in the United States. Multiple myeloma remains a disease where serial disease monitoring is critical but currently tied to invasive bone marrow procedures. The CMMC test offers a blood-based alternative, enabling hematologists and oncologists to track disease burden, detect minimal residual disease, and make treatment decisions without the need for routine marrow sampling. This positions the product at the intersection of clinical unmet need, workflow improvement, and patient experience, which is a compelling commercial story for the right candidate. MenariniSearch is a CLIA- and CAP-accredited laboratory-developed testing service designed for biopharma, CROs, and precision oncology programs. It provides comprehensive liquid biopsy profiling across 284 DNA/cfDNA genes and more than 1,600 RNA/cfRNA genes, with hematologic-specific panels alongside broader solid-tumor coverage. The service has a turnaround of 7–11 days and is positioned as a central lab partner for multicenter clinical trials and biomarker discovery studies.
PLEASE NOTE:
WE ARE HIRING FOR SEVERAL TERRITORIES. THIS IS A REMOTE ROLE. Menarini Silicon Biosystems is looking for several, territory-based, commercially driven, scientifically literate, Business Development Managers who can operate at the interface of clinical hematology and oncology. This is an ideal role for someone who wants to be part of building something — not just executing within an established playbook.
Ideal Background:
What Strong Looks LikeThe strongest candidates will demonstrate experience selling in one or more of the following areas: central laboratory services or outsourced testing, liquid biopsy or circulating biomarker platforms, molecular hematologic diagnostics (MRD, flow cytometry), or translational/biopharma biomarker programs. Candidates coming solely from routine hematologic automation may be operationally credible but weaker in value creation in this setting. Candidates from pure research tools sales may be scientifically strong but less proven in clinical adoption and in institutionally reimbursed diagnostics. Reporting to the National Sales Director, the Business Development Manager will be a key driver of US growth across Menarini Silicon Biosystems’ clinical and research platforms. The primary focus is accelerating adoption of the Circulating Multiple Myeloma Cell (CMMC) test and MenariniSearch across hematologic cancers and translational oncology, while also expanding CELLSEARCH utilization in existing and new clinical accounts. This is a remote, full-time, field-based role, with the BDM serving as the primary commercial point of contact for physicians, advanced practice providers, laboratory directors, and biopharma partners. You will engage hematologists, oncologists, pathologists, and laboratory directors, so a varied commercial approach and an arsenal of value propositions are key. The right candidate will be comfortable moving between KOL education, clinical protocol discussions, and partnership negotiations, and will understand that building a diagnostics category requires patience, scientific credibility, and commercial discipline in equal measure. The role is expected to own two core commercial motions. The first is clinical adoption, working with hematology and oncology practices, NCI-designated cancer centers, academic medical centers, and reference labs to drive routine use of CELLSEARCH and the CMMC test. The second is market development, building the commercial and clinical case for noninvasive, blood-based disease monitoring in hematologic malignancies, where invasive bone marrow biopsy remains the current standard of care. This is a genuine category-building opportunity that requires the BDM to work alongside Medical Affairs to shape clinical opinion, support publications and congress presence, and engage KOLs who can accelerate institutional adoption. Key Responsibilities→ Drive revenue growth: identify, develop, and close new business opportunities in assigned territories to meet or exceed quarterly and annual sales targets across the clinical segments.→ Strategic market adoption: execute territory business plans to expand adoption of the CMMC test and MenariniSearch across oncology practices, cancer centers, academic medical centers, and hospitals.→ Relationship management: build and sustain strong, long-term relationships with hematologists, oncologists, pathologists, laboratory directors, and advanced practice providers.→ Clinical expertise and education: deliver high-quality scientific and clinical discussions to ensure appropriate patient identification, proper use of diagnostic products, and evidence-based adoption, translating complex science into compelling commercial conversations.→ KOL development: build and maintain relationships with Key Opinion Leaders and Thought Leaders across multiple myeloma, liquid biopsy, and precision hematology, engaging them to shape clinical practice, support publications, and accelerate institutional adoption.→ Cross-functional collaboration: partner closely with Medical Affairs, marketing, operations, and product management to deliver value-driven solutions, address scientific objections, support study design discussions, and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.→ Market intelligence: monitor competitive activity, market trends, reimbursement developments, and customer feedback to inform territory strategy and contribute to organizational and product insights.→ Administrative excellence: maintain forecast accuracy and full CRM hygiene (Salesforce); manage pipeline reporting, account activity logging, and territory data in a timely and accurate manner.→ Business development and strategy: contribute to BD initiatives, identify new partnership opportunities, and provide field-based input into product strategy and commercial planning. Qualifications and Background→ Bachelor's degree in life sciences, biological sciences, or a relevant field; advanced degree advantageous but not required.→ Minimum 5 years of commercial experience in diagnostics, life sciences, or a closely related field, with a demonstrated track record of sales success. Experience and expertise within Plasma Cell Disorder marketplace strongly preferred.→ Minimum 3 years of experience in hematology/oncology, molecular diagnostics, liquid biopsy, or laboratory services sales.→ Experience selling into central labs, hospital-based oncology and hematology departments, and cancer centers is strongly preferred.→ Scientific fluency in circulating tumor cells, cfDNA/cfRNA, NGS-based panels, flow cytometry, or related technologies; ability to engage credibly with medical and scientific stakeholders at a peer level.→ Proven ability to manage long, complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles — from KOL education through institutional procurement to ongoing account management.→ Entrepreneurial mindset: comfortable building territory plans, managing ambiguity, and operating with a lean commercial team in a scaling business.→ Experience using CRM systems and comfortable with data-driven pipeline management.→ Ability to travel up to 50% across the US territory; flexibility for occasional international travel to company headquarters.→ Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills; credibility with both scientific and commercial audiences. xhqgsiq Remote working/work at home options are available for this role.
