Pediatric Operating Room Registered Nurse

Memorial Health in Savannah, GA is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Children’s Operating Room on a PRN basis. The RN will provide age-appropriate perioperative care for pediatric patients, including pre-op assessment, intraoperative monitoring, and post-anesthesia recovery. Responsibilities include medication administration, sterile technique, documentation, family education, and collaboration with surgeons and anesthesia. The nurse will support quality and safety initiatives, participate in ongoing education, and uphold Memorial Health’s culture of compassion, innovation, and patient-centered care. Provide perioperative nursing care for pediatric surgical patients in the OR and PACU Perform pre-operative assessment, patient preparation, and post-anesthesia recovery monitoring Administer medications and IV therapies following pediatric dosing and safety protocols Maintain sterile technique and support surgeons and anesthesia providers during procedures Continuously monitor patient status and respond to emergencies following hospital policies Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic health record Educate and support patients’ families regarding procedures, recovery, and home care Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate safe, effective patient care Participate in quality, safety, and infection-prevention initiatives within the OR Engage in ongoing professional development and competency-based education Pediatric perioperative nursing Patient assessment and monitoring Pediatric medication administration and IV therapy Sterile technique and infection control Intraoperative patient positioning and safety Electronic health record documentation PALS/BLS emergency response skills Family and patient education Interdisciplinary team collaboration Pain management for pediatric patients Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Current GA RN license or compact state equivalent BLS (Basic Life Support) certification PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) preferred Previous pediatric or OR nursing experience preferred
