This is a fast-paced, high-volume operations role that requires strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and the ability to make informed decisions while managing competing priorities. Disruption Management: Investigate and resolve transportation issues, including delays, missed pickups, rail and truck handoff issues, and other shipment exceptions.
Carrier and Driver Support: Provide timely, professional assistance to carriers and drivers experiencing transportation disruptions, helping identify solutions and establish clear expectations.
Real-Time Problem-Solving: Research shipment information using internal systems, assess available options, and make timely decisions in accordance with established procedures.
Stakeholder Communication: Keep relevant parties informed of shipment status, delays, escalations, and resolution plans, working with transportation teams, carriers, rail partners, shippers, and fleet operations.
Operational Monitoring: Track load execution, identify shipment exceptions, monitor delays and dwell times, and help ensure transportation performance targets are met.
Cross-Functional Coordination: Partner with field teams and internal stakeholders to resolve issues, coordinate repair requests, and support the continued flow of freight through the network.
Reporting and Data Analysis: Gather information from multiple internal sources to support operational reporting and identify trends or recurring issues that may affect performance.
Process Compliance: Follow established workflows, operating procedures, schedules, and quality standards while maintaining accuracy and accountability.
Peak Operations Support: Help manage increases in workload during periods of high demand or weather-related disruptions, including significant overtime during designated peak periods when required.
Basic Qualifications:
At least 2+ years of customer service, call center, or comparable customer-facing experience.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot issues, research information, and identify practical solutions.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple time-sensitive tasks.
Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with changing priorities.
Ability to follow established procedures, manage workload expectations, and communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, freight coordination, or carrier operations.
Experience supporting drivers, carriers, vendors, or business customers.
Familiarity with shipment tracking, transportation management systems, logistics workflows, or operational dashboards.
Experience monitoring service levels, delivery performance, delays, or operational metrics.
Ability to analyze information from multiple sources, identify trends, and communicate findings.
Experience working in a contact center, operations control tower, dispatch environment, or other time-sensitive support function.
A Day in the LifeAs a Transportation Specialist, you will help maintain the flow of freight throughout Amazon’s transportation network. You will monitor shipments, respond to incoming requests, investigate disruptions, and coordinate with the appropriate teams to get shipments back on track.
Your day may involve researching a delayed load, assisting a driver with an over-the-road issue, coordinating with a carrier or rail partner, escalating an operational exception, or gathering data to understand a recurring transportation problem. Priorities can change quickly, so success requires sound judgment, clear communication, and a strong sense of ownership.
This role offers exposure to transportation operations at scale and the opportunity to contribute directly to shipment reliability and customer experience.
