Ina memory care and assisted living environment, this role requires strict adherence to infectioncontrol protocols, specialized handling of sensitive fabrics, and a compassionate approach toresident dignity Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities
- Collection & Sorting: Collect soiled linens and personal clothing daily from resident roomsand designated drop-off points. Sort items by fabric, color, and soil level, specificallyidentifying articles that require specialized stain treatment or delicate handling.
- Laundering Operations: Operate commercial-grade washers and dryers according toestablished sanitation and thermal disinfection protocols. Properly measure and dispensedetergents, bleaches, and softeners.
- Finishing & Distribution: Fold, hang, and organize clean laundry. Promptly return clean, wrinkle-free personal clothing to individual resident closets and drawers to promoteindependence and dignity. Restock clean linens on floor units.
- Resident-Specific Protocols: For memory care residents, ensure that clothing issystematically labeled or tagged to prevent loss. Change and launder linens and clothingimmediately whenever they become soiled or wet.
- Equipment & Facility Maintenance: Keep the laundry area clean, organized, and free ofhazards. Regularly clean machine filters, drums, and surrounding surfaces to prevent lintbuildup and maintain safety. Report malfunctioning equipment to facility management. [
- Compliance & Infection Control: Strictly comply with universal precautions, HIPAAregulations, and state/federal health regulations regarding the handling of soiled versusclean materials. Use assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriately.
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Experience with various cleaning methods and equipment.
Ability to maintain a high level of cleanliness and sanitation.
Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
Ability to communicate with staff and follow instructions.
Ability to work collaboratively with other staff members.18 years or older.
Prefer experience working in housekeeping or laundry in a medical facility.
Maintain tactful composure and confidentiality with residents, family members, staff andvisitors.
A genuine desire to improve the quality of life for seniors.
