Job Description: Investor Relations Consultant, Capacity Gardens
About Capacity Gardens:
Capacity Gardens is a pre-seed infrastructure-fintech platform that streamlines how large public and recovery projects get executed from start to finish, and it is hiring to support its growth capital strategy. The platform connects scoping, procurement and execution, with an audit trail that owners, funders and oversight agencies can verify. It also gets small and mid-sized contractors bonded and capitalized, then builds their capacity to take on larger work, so project dollars and economic development stay in the communities being served. Capacity Gardens is a Delaware C-Corp with a patent-pending matching and scope-decomposition engine, a signed paying client and active pilot conversations. The U.S. Virgin Islands is the first proving ground, with a national federal small-business market behind it ($273B awarded to small businesses in FY25).
The Role:
Capacity Gardens is looking for a fintech investor or contract consultant who can open doors to institutional and angel capital and run a disciplined investor-relations process in support of our growth capital strategy. This is an independent engagement reporting directly to the founder, Mark Newson. The right person already has the relationships and a funded-deal record, and can introduce Capacity Gardens to investors who fit its stage, sector and mission (infrastructure, fintech, impact and economic development). Remote, with occasional travel for investor meetings.
Responsibilities:- The consultant owns the investor pipeline from first introduction to signed documents.
- Build and maintain a target list of angels, family offices, impact funds, CDFIs, strategic investors and institutional funds that fit the raise
- Secure warm introductions through your own network and convert them into first meetings
- Refine the pitch, one-pager and data room with the founder so they answer what diligent investors ask
- Run the process: outreach, follow-up, meeting scheduling, diligence requests and a weekly pipeline report
- Advise on deal terms and on how to sequence investors, with fast-moving angels ahead of slower institutions
- Open doors to strategic and mission capital (SSBCI-related programs, CDFIs, infrastructure and impact investors) that strengthens the equity story
- Represent Capacity Gardens professionally and keep investor confidences and data-room access controlled
Required Qualifications:- Candidates must show, with specifics, that they have funded deals or hold an institutional investor network.
- A verifiable record of funded deals: names of companies, round sizes, dates, and your role in each (introducer, lead, co-investor, advisor or placement agent)
- An active network of institutional investors, such as VC funds, family offices, impact funds, CDFIs, corporate venture arms or infrastructure investors, with at least some who will take your call
- Experience in fintech, infrastructure, construction, public-sector or impact investing, or a clear explanation of how your network maps to them
- Working knowledge of early-stage deal structures: SAFEs, convertible notes, valuation caps, pro-rata rights and basic diligence
- Willingness to provide references, including at least one investor and one founder you have worked with
- Credentials appropriate to the compensation structure (see Engagement and Compensation)
Preferred Qualifications:- Prior work with surety, construction finance, government contracting or disaster-recovery programs
- Relationships with territorial, municipal or economic-development investors, including in the Caribbean and Gulf Coast
- Experience supporting first-time founders through a pre-seed or seed round
- Familiarity with federal small-business procurement and the Miller Act bonding market
- Prior service as a mentor, advisor or board member at an accelerator or investment network
- Engagement and Compensation
This is a 90-day initial engagement, renewable by mutual agreement, with terms set by written agreement before work begins.
Retainer: a monthly consulting fee for process and relationship work (amount to be set with the founder)
Advisor equity: a modest, vesting grant under an advisor agreement, subject to the company's option pool
Success-based compensation: a fee tied to capital closed may be offered only where securities law permits, which generally means the recipient is a registered broker-dealer or the structure has been cleared by securities counsel; Capacity Gardens will confirm this before any agreement is signed
Confidentiality: a mutual NDA and non-circumvention agreement before data-room access
Candidates should state their registration status (for example FINRA-registered representative, registered investment adviser, or unregistered) in their application so the right structure can be chosen.
First 90 Days
Success is measured by qualified investor conversations and movement toward commitments, not by activity alone.
Days 1–30: agree a target investor list, tighten the pitch materials and make the first warm introductions
Days 31–60: hold first meetings with qualified investors and stand up a weekly pipeline report
Days 61–90: move interested investors through diligence and toward commitments
How to Apply:
Email mark@capacitygardens.com with the subject line "Investor Relations Consultant" and include:
- A short summary of your background and why Capacity Gardens fits your network
- A list of funded deals you were involved in, with company, round size, year and your role
- A description of your institutional investor network, with the types of investors and how you know them
- Your registration status and two references, including at least one investor
Applications that do not show funded deals or an institutional network will not move forward.
