You're already producing events. We can help.
If you’re independently running live events and building local audiences, you already know what it takes. What you might not have is the infrastructure, brand power, and back-office support to do it at scale, without burning out on admin.
Sofar Sounds partners with experienced independent producers who want to keep doing what they love, but with a global organization behind them. We take on the operational complexity: payments, taxes, insurance, royalties, communication management, artist + venue advances, and ticketing infrastructure, so you can spend less time on admin. The one thing that stays with you: getting people in the door. You own local promotion and ticket sales; we handle everything behind the scenes.
About Sofar Sounds
Sofar Sounds is a global live events brand that transforms everyday spaces: living rooms, rooftops, boutiques, museums, into intimate venues for music and arts experiences. Born in a London flat in 2009, Sofar began as an answer to a growing problem: live music had lost its magic. It blossomed into a global movement that kept music at its heart while expanding to comedy, singles, dance, and more, hosting 60,000+ shows across 540+ cities, with 3.2M+ attendees worldwide — all connected by Sofar's renowned track record for discovering rising talent.
Countless mainstage performers like Billie Eilish, Brent Faiyaz, Jack Harlow, Chappell Roan, Leon Bridges, Tank and the Bangas, Olivia Dean, YEBBA, Teddy Swims, Remi Wolf, Hozier, and Lola Young have played Sofar shows early in their careers. More than just a gig, Sofar empowers artists by providing a professional platform that spans both the physical and digital worlds, handling everything from booking and promotion to filling the room, while granting artists access to an ecosystem of opportunities including brand partnerships, a powerful content engine, and global media placements.
What You Get as a Sofar Producer Partnering with Sofar isn’t about giving up your independence; it’s about removing the friction that stands between you and doing more of what you’re already good at.
End-to-End Platform: Ticketing, guest comms, artist booking, advancing, payments, and post-show surveys, all in one place, replacing the dozens of tools and spreadsheets you’re probably juggling today.
Lifecycle Marketing Support: Once someone buys a ticket, we work to bring them back. Sofar provides lifecycle email & SMS campaigns and a dedicated Lifecycle Marketing Manager to drive repeat attendance from your existing audience. New customer acquisition is yours to own.
Global Brand Power: Sofar’s reputation unlocks better venues, higher-quality artist bookings, press opportunities, and brand partnerships (Sony, Visa, Delta, and more) that are harder to access independently.
Reduced Risk: We carry event insurance, manage compliance, handle royalties and sales tax, and absorb much of the operational risk typically borne by independent producers.
Autonomy with Real Support: You retain full creative control over your events, community, and growth strategy, while gaining access to a global team, shared best practices, data, and tools.
Global Artist Network: A constant pipeline of 50,000+ artists actively seeking Sofar stages, plus a worldwide producer community sharing real-time insights.
Dependable Payouts: Your commission lands via direct deposit, fully reconciled. No chasing invoices.
The Role:
As a Freelance Local Producer, you’ll curate, produce, and promote concerts and live events that build a strong Sofar community in your city. You're welcome to do this fully under the Sofar brand, or to co-promote with your own established brand. You’ll set the local strategy, lead artist and venue curation, drive ticket sales, and represent Sofar in your market, all backed by a global platform and team.
This is a commission-based freelance role. Events typically take place on weekends and evenings. Earnings vary based on show volume and profitability.
What You'll Do:
Lead curation and booking for shows in your city, sourcing high-quality, diverse artists and unique venues
Build and execute your city’s event strategy: show frequency, neighborhoods, themes, and growth plans
Own your local promotion and ticket sales. You are the marketing engine for your city, using social media, community relationships, press, and grassroots tactics to fill every show
Own staffing and show quality for your events, ensuring every guest, artist, and venue has an exceptional experience (we'll facilitate payment for event staff and provide robust customer service to attendees)
Manage financial performance, keeping events profitable and healthy
Identify and partner with community organizations to broaden Sofar’s reach and co-promote shows
Support inbound global brand partnership activations with seamless, high-quality event execution
Collaborate with other Sofar producers globally to share what’s working and grow the network
Who You Are:
You’re already producing events: you have hands-on experience running live shows and know what it takes to make them great
You have 3–5 years of experience in live event curation, production, or promotions
You have deep roots in your local scene and an existing network of artists, venues, and community connectors
You know how to sell tickets, not just produce shows. You have a proven ability to promote events, grow an audience from scratch, and drive local demand through social media, partnerships, press, and community outreach. This is a core part of the role, not an afterthought
You have experience selling event sponsorships or marketing activations, ideally in live events or experiential marketing
You’re entrepreneurial and resourceful: you figure things out, you thrive under pressure, and you take ownership
You have a strong read on your city: the neighborhoods, the audiences, and where cultural energy lives
You’re a natural relationship-builder with a track record of closing deals and cultivating lasting partnerships
You understand the economics of live events and know how to make the numbers work
You can work autonomously, but value being part of a larger community and organization
You communicate clearly, manage your time well, and bring professionalism to every interaction
$100 - $5,000 a month
Commission-based, with shows settled twice monthly via direct deposit. Earnings depend on show volume and profitability. This is a freelance role with a flexible schedule.
