Post-Operative Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse

Doctors Hospital of Augusta seeks a Surgery Recovery Med Surg RN to provide high-quality post-operative and medical-surgical care. In this role, you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for post-surgical and acutely ill adult patients, monitoring vital signs, managing IVs, administering medications, and coordinating discharge planning. You will collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe recoveries. Provide direct post-operative and medical-surgical nursing care to adult patients Continuously assess, monitor, and document patient status, including vital signs and pain levels Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments per physician orders and hospital protocols Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care for assigned patients Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care Educate patients and families on procedures, recovery expectations, and discharge instructions Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and participate in emergency interventions Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) Adhere to infection prevention, quality, and patient safety standards Precept and mentor new nurses or students, supporting a culture of continuous learning Post-operative patient assessment Medical-surgical nursing care IV therapy and venipuncture Cardiac and vital sign monitoring Electronic Medical Record (EMR) documentation Pain management Wound and drain care Patient and family education Medication administration and reconciliation Infection prevention and control Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Current RN license in state of practice Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (CMSRN) preferred Post-anesthesia or critical care experience preferred
