Senior Credit Officer – Financial Sponsors, Securitization & Private CreditOffice Status: Hybrid – New York, NY
Base Salary: $250k - $300k (Commensurate with experience) + Bonus
Overview:
This is a Senior Credit Officer opportunity within the independent Risk Management function of a leading global financial institution, covering a broad and complex portfolio spanning Financial Sponsors, Private Equity, Private Credit, and Securitization — including BDCs, capital call facilities, CLO warehouses, NAV financing, and portfolio financing of middle market and broadly syndicated loans. The role carries genuine credit authority with direct involvement in credit approval, risk appetite setting, and regulatory engagement — making it an ideal seat for a seasoned credit professional who combines deep Financial Sponsor and securitization expertise with strong independent judgment and a collaborative approach to risk management. French language skills are a plus given the international scope of the platform.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct independent credit assessments of Financial Sponsor and securitization counterparties including analysis of historical performance, key risk factors, and underlying asset quality across MBS, ABS, CMBS, Auto, Consumer Finance, and Credit Card asset classes
- Provide approval or recommendation for approval on proposed credit limits and tenors; document recommendations clearly for final decision-making
- Validate Obligor Risk Ratings, Basel II parameters including LGDs, and other key financial metrics across the portfolio
- Perform ongoing monitoring of portfolio credit quality including early detection of deteriorating credits; participate actively in quarterly watch list review processes
- Track credit and market trends across individual asset classes within the Financial Sponsors and securitization universe
- Assist the Portfolio Management and Governance team in preparing reporting for senior risk management and regulators
- Contribute to the development and refinement of the bank's credit policy guidelines and overall risk appetite framework; participate in setting global risk appetite for financing initiatives
- Assess new business initiatives including white papers, New Product Committees, and business rules from a credit risk perspective
- Collaborate cross-functionally with business lines, legal, compliance, and risk partners to deliver sound and timely credit decisions
