Heartline Staffing is recruiting a Project Engineer for a full-time opportunity with a multidisciplinary engineering and consulting firm in Chicago, Illinois. This position offers the opportunity to work on transportation and civil engineering projects while contributing to the growth of an expanding transportation portfolio. You'll collaborate with engineers and other technical professionals, support project delivery, and take on meaningful design responsibilities. We're looking for someone who brings strong civil engineering fundamentals, hands-on AutoCAD Civil 3D experience, and the ability to independently develop plan sets with limited supervision. What You'll Do:
- Support civil engineering and transportation projects from concept planning through design and documentation
- Develop roadway, intersection, sidewalk, and corridor designs
- Prepare civil engineering plans, construction specifications, and technical details
- Perform stormwater management and detention design
- Complete hydrology and hydraulics modeling
- Design storm sewer systems and underground utility layouts
- Develop grading, earthwork, and site geometry plans
- Prepare quantity takeoffs and engineering reports
- Support transportation planning and corridor development
- Prepare complete engineering plan sets with limited supervision
- Use AutoCAD Civil 3D for engineering design and documentation
- Support project budget and schedule management
- Manage multiple projects and competing priorities
- Collaborate with internal teams and project stakeholders
- Lead meetings and communicate project progress and technical recommendations
Compensation
Annual Salary: $80,000-$110,000 Performance-Based Bonus

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field REQUIREDAt least 4 years of civil engineering experience REQUIREDProficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D REQUIREDStrong transportation engineering and roadway design experience REQUIREDAbility to independently prepare engineering plan sets with limited supervision REQUIREDStrong understanding of civil engineering methods, design tools, and technical processes REQUIREDExperience working with federally funded projects REQUIREDExcellent project and time management skills REQUIREDAbility to manage multiple long-term projects and immediate tasks concurrently REQUIREDAbility to confidently lead meetings REQUIREDStrong collaboration skills and ability to work independently REQUIREDAbility to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment REQUIREDProfessional engineer (PE) license PREFERREDApproximately 4-8 years of civil engineering experience PREFERREDExperience with stormwater management, detention design, and hydrology/hydraulics modeling PREFERREDExperience with roadway, intersection, sidewalk, and corridor design PREFERREDExperience supporting project budgets and schedules PREFERRED
