AutoCAD Drafter - Custom Iron Doors & Glass Rooms

Job Description Job Description What You'll Do • Create detailed 2D shop drawings, elevations, and sections for custom iron doors, windows, and glass rooms/enclosures in AutoCAD • Convert field measurements, sketches, and sales notes into accurate drawings for customer approval • Prepare customer-facing approval drawings and revise them based on feedback • Produce fabrication drawings with cut lists, dimensions, glass sizes, hardware locations, and material specs • Work closely with sales, estimating, and the shop floor to confirm designs are buildable and match the quote • Review rough openings, proportions, swing direction, thresholds, and structural details for fit and function • Maintain organized drawing files, revisions, and project records • Help develop standard drawing templates and blocks for common door styles and configurationsWhat We're Looking For • 2+ years of AutoCAD drafting experience (architectural, metal fabrication, millwork, windows/doors, or similar) • Strong understanding of dimensions, tolerances, and construction drawings • Ability to read architectural plans and blueprints • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects at once • Clear communication with customers, sales staff, and fabricators • Associate degree or certificate in drafting/CAD, or equivalent experienceNice to Have • Experience with steel/iron fabrication, storefront, curtain wall, or glass systems • Knowledge of insulated glass, thermal-break framing, and weatherproofing details • Familiarity with SolidWorks, Inventor, Revit, or SketchUp • Ability to create 3D renderings for customer presentations • Experience taking field measurements Company Description Iron Works designs and manufactures custom iron and steel doors and glass room systems, built domestically in the Southeast with US-sourced materials and 11-gauge steel construction.
