Mechanical Auxiliaries Engineer (Heavy-Duty Industrial Gas Turbines)
Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Auxiliaries Engineer specializing in heavy-duty industrial gas turbines. In this role, you will be responsible for the specification, integration, and life-cycle management of fluid, pneumatic, and mechanical support systems essential for the reliable operation of large-scale turbomachinery packages. You will collaborate cross-functionally with structural, electrical, and controls teams, manage global vendors, and ensure seamless system execution from initial design through commissioning.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • System Design & Engineering: Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs;), fluid consumption schedules, and component sizing calculations for utility and auxiliary subsystems.
  • Specification Procurement: Author comprehensive Request for Quotations (RFQs) and technical specifications for major balance-of-plant (BOP) and auxiliary equipment. Evaluate technical bids from global vendors.
  • Vendor Management: Oversee auxiliary skid suppliers to ensure compliance with engineering standards, project milestones, quality requirements, and cost targets.
  • Design Reviews: Lead and participate in design reviews, focusing on equipment performance, layout, maintenance accessibility, and structural skids interface.
  • Cross-Functional Integration: Interface directly with EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) partners and internal electrical/controls engineering teams to ensure accurate physical and functional boundaries.
  • Testing & Field Support: Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) at vendor facilities, and provide remote or on-site technical resolution during package commissioning, field installation, and troubleshooting.
  • Core Technical Domain & Subsystems The ideal candidate will have direct design or integration ownership over the following subsystems:
  • Seal Oil /Lube Oil Systems: Lube and Lift oil skid, conditioning systems, and seal oil for hydrogen cooled generator.
  • Fuel Delivery Systems: Gas fuel regulating skids and fuel filtration.
  • Air Management: Inlet air filtration systems (evaporative coolers, pulse filters) and turbine enclosure ventilation/cooling.
  • Water Wash: Water Wash pumps, nozzles and piping
  • Fire Protection: Fire detection and suppression systems (CO2, water mist), fire protection control panels, and associated distribution piping and nozzles.
  • Enclosures: Gas Turbine, Load Compartment, and Exhaust sound barrier
  • Cooling Water: Glycol-Water specification and cooling requirements
  • Instrument Air: Air compressors, dryers, filters, receivers, and distribution piping for pneumatic valves, actuators, and instrumentation
  • Exhaust Systems: Exhaust ducting, expansion joints, silencers, exhaust stack, emission reduction equipment, and thermal insulation.
  • Ventilation & Heating Systems: Enclosure ventilation fans, air filtration, dampers, ductwork, space heaters, and temperature control systems.
Minimum Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or an equivalent technical field.
Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in turbomachinery, rotating equipment packages, or industrial process plant design. Standards Expertise: Strong working knowledge of API standards (specifically API 614 for lubrication systems, API 617/616), ASME B31.1 / B31.3 piping codes, and standard ASME Section VIII pressure vessel design rules. Software Proficiency: Authoring and/or reviewing CAD drawings and P&IDs, experience with thermodynamic/fluid modeling tools is a plus.
