Mechanical Engineer – Satellite Structures & Mechanisms Employment type -full-time, permanent
The Opportunity:
An innovative and rapidly growing company operating at the forefront of the space industry is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join its satellite engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on the design and development of structures and mechanisms for next-generation Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites, taking hardware from initial concept through to manufacturing, testing and flight.
The Role:
You'll be responsible for the mechanical design and development of satellite structures and mechanisms, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Key responsibilities of this role will include:
Design and develop satellite structures and mechanisms using SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
Produce detailed 3D models, assemblies, engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation.
Take ownership of mechanical designs from initial concept through to prototype and flight-ready hardware.
Support the manufacturing, assembly, integration and testing of satellite hardware.
Develop lightweight, robust mechanical solutions capable of operating in demanding space environments.
The ideal candidate:
Previous experience in the space industry is essential, ideally working on satellite or spacecraft structures and mechanisms.
Strong mechanical design experience, ideally with 5+ years of hands-on CAD design.
Proficiency inSolidWorks or other advanced 3D CAD software such as Creo, NX or CATIA.Experience designing mechanical components, assemblies and structures for space applications.
Understanding of the challenges associated with spacecraft design, including mass constraints and extreme operating environments.
Experience taking mechanical designs from concept through to manufacturing and testing.
Experience working on LEO satellites would be particularly desirable, although candidates with broader spacecraft or space hardware design experience are encouraged to apply.
What's in it for you:
You'll be joining an ambitious engineering team developing advanced satellite technology, with the opportunity to take genuine ownership of mechanical hardware that will ultimately operate in orbit. The position offers exposure to the full hardware development lifecycle, from early-stage design through to the delivery of flight-ready systems.
