Staff Accountant A financial services firm in Miami is looking for Senior Accountant.
The ideal candidate will have:
3-6 years’ experience, preferably in a broker dealer setting. A good attitude, people skills, good organizational skills and an open, inquisitive mind are essential for this position.
Responsibilities:- Oversee the daily processing of accounts payable· Perform weekly monitoring of outstanding payable balances· Ensure recognition of expenses/revenues in the proper period· Maintain and update fixed assets, prepaid expense, and accrual schedules· Prepare journal entries, Focus Report Form X-17 A-5 Part IIA, equities, and haircuts.· Prepare monthly bank and trading reconciliations.· Perform month-end closing procedures and submit reports in a timely manner in accordance withthe department calendar and schedules· Analyze and prepare budgets/forecasts· Prepare and update consolidating schedules on a quarterly basis· Work as a liaison with auditors and tax professionals· Prepare financial statements· Assist with ad hoc reports and special assignments when needed
Requirements:- Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or related field· Broker dealer experience preferred· Financial services industries preferred· 3+ years of accounting experience including working with the general ledger and creating journal entries· Management type reporting experience· QuickBooks experience preferred· Strong communication skills· Some supervisory skills/experience over staff accountants· Ability to work independently and as part of a team· Ability to work in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment We offer a competitive compensation package that includes 401k plan, bonus program, and health, dental, and vision.
