Denver, CO Reports To: Ben Meager, CEO / Founder About AZAK AZAK is transforming how the world moves. We are a startup in defense technology, empowering people with everything they need to move, achieve, and do more with the world's most efficient, powerful, and structurally adaptable electric mobility systems. AZAK’s patented technology places all of the drive components needed to operate an electric vehicle inside and below the center point of the wheel. This simple but groundbreaking mechanical innovation helps us create vehicles with the lowest center of gravity, that are more energy efficient, and that have modular properties that provide optionality, space savings, and freedom of frame design.
About the Role:
We are looking for a hands-on Electrical Engineer specializing in power electronics and whole-system vehicle architecture. If you are less interested in micro-routing standard PCBs and more excited about managing high-current power distribution, designing robust wiring harnesses, and architecting the electrical backbone of an entire robotic vehicle, this is your sandbox. You will own the power management and grounding strategies for our platforms, ensuring our systems run flawlessly in rugged, real-world environments. This is a role for a true builder who wants to see their designs move out of CAD and onto the dirt. What You’ll Do System Architecture & Power Management: Design and optimize the full electrical architecture for large-scale robotic vehicles, focusing on ~60V systems and high-power electronics. Grounding & Signal Integrity: Establish and implement rock-solid grounding strategies across complex, multi-subsystem vehicles to eliminate noise and ensure reliability. Harness Design: Own the end-to-end design, routing, and documentation of rugged vehicle wiring harnesses. Whole-System Testing: Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for both individual power boards and the integrated vehicle. You’ll be breaking things in the lab and the field to figure out how to make them unbreakable. Collaborative Execution: Work closely with mechanical, software, and systems teams to bring cutting-edge mobility platforms to life. Culture Fit A True Tinkerer: You love to build things. Whether it's a project in your garage, a custom drone, a restored vehicle, or a weekend coding/hardware project—you build stuff because you can’t help yourself. Devotion to Excellence and Attention to Detail: You care about clean wire routing, secure connections, and meticulous documentation. You know that a loose pin or a poor ground can ruin a field test. Great Work Ethic & Low Ego: You take your work seriously, but not yourself. You are collaborative, reliable, and great to work with in a fast-paced lab environment. Drive mastery in the minimal, actively stripping away the non-essential to deliver high-performance solutions that are sophisticated yet inherently understood. Requirements The Power Specialist: Proven experience in power electronics, high-current systems, and power distribution (specifically around the ~60V threshold). The System Thinker: You look at the whole vehicle, not just the component. You understand how power, data, and mechanical systems interact. The Tester: Strong background in hardware verification, PCB testing, and system-level debugging. You know your way around oscilloscopes, multimeters, and data loggers. Harness Expertise: Practical experience designing and building reliable wiring harnesses capable of handling harsh environments. Must be based in or willing to relocate to Denver, CO.
Preferred Skills:
Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent field. Experience in high growth, fast-paced technology environments with a proven track record of continued success.
Compensation & Benefits: Cash compensation is targeted between $140,000 - $185,000 + equity package.
Note:
This is a dual-track posting. Offers within this range are strictly commensurate with experience, calibrated for either a Senior Electrical Engineer or a Principal Electrical Engineer. 100% company-paid premiums for medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and dependents. Paid time off. Fully subsidized supplemental benefits for unexpected medical events. Competitive parental leave. On-site meals three days a week.
