Accounting Specialist

About the Opportunity: We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join a well-established, family-owned furniture manufacturer in High Point, NC. A degree or previous furniture industry experience is not required!

Key Responsibilities: Support daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, cash receipts, and payment processing. Manage sales tax administration, reporting, and compliance, utilizing Avalara or similar systems. Perform general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and month-end closing activities. Process credit card transactions, employee expense reports, and merchant account activity. Assist with fixed asset accounting and inventory reconciliations. Review customer and vendor transactions, resolve discrepancies, and maintain accurate financial records. Support sales commission calculations, year-end audits, and financial reporting. Collaborate with internal departments to resolve accounting questions and improve processes. Provide cross-functional support and assist with additional accounting responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications: 5+ years of well-rounded accounting experience, ideally supporting multiple accounting functions. Strong understanding of AP, AR, general ledger accounting, and reconciliations. Sales tax experience strongly preferred. Experience supporting month-end close, journal entries, and financial reporting. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems. Experience with Avalara and/or Epicor is a plus, but not required. Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities. Strong communication skills with a collaborative, customer-service-oriented mindset. Ability to manage competing priorities, adapt to changing needs, and wear multiple hats. Accounting or Finance degree preferred, but equivalent professional experience is welcome.
