Description:
American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Med/Surg unit requiring at least 1 year of experience and a WV or compact RN license. Details Acute care Med Surg unit with 18 beds Nurse to patient ratio of 1:6Common diagnoses include COPD, CHF, total joints, hysterectomies, and general post-ops Telemetry present on the unit, with SCU RN monitoring and reading strips No drip titration required Charge nurse available all shifts, with house supervisor support Nurse aide ratios range from 1:6 to 1:9 depending on staffingRT equipment includes CPAP and BiPAP for patients with home-established use Night shift schedule, 7p-7a, 12-hour shifts Every other weekend required (Fri, Sat, Sun) Holiday rotation required alongside permanent staff No call or standby requirement No floating required Uses MEDITECH charting system
Requirements:
- Active WV or compact RN license requiredBLS certification (AHA) required
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Travel experience preferred
Additional Information:
- Unit orientation includes a shadow day followed by two 12-hour shifts
- No specific scrub color or dress code required
- Schedulers will attempt to accommodate time-off requests, typically granting one longer block per month
- First-time travelers may be considered given at least 1 year of experience
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify as a traveler
- Travelers who previously worked at any WVU Medicine facility must have a 2-year break before reapplying
- Travelers cannot work within the WVU system for longer than 1 cumulative year without taking a 2-year break
