The provider will evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with a wide range of acute and chronic conditions. The clinic operates with two providers seeing an average combined volume of 12 patients per day, ensuring a manageable workload and collaborative clinical environment. This role supports IHS's mission to raise the physical, mental, social, and spiritual health of American Indian and Alaska Native populations to the highest level.

Average Patient Volume: 2030 patients per day total - Shared between two providers
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct outpatient medical care to walk-in patients of all ages
Perform medical histories, physical exams, assessments, and diagnoses
Treat acute illnesses, manage chronic conditions, and provide follow-up care
Order and interpret diagnostic tests, labs, and imaging
Prescribe medications in accordance with federal, state, and IHS guidelines
Document all patient encounters accurately in the electronic health record (EHR)
Collaborate with nursing staff, behavioral health, pharmacy, and specialty services
Provide patient education, preventive care guidance, and referrals as appropriate
Comply with all IHS policies, federal regulations, and clinical protocols
Maintain professional standards, cultural sensitivity, and patient confidentiality
Required Qualifications
Education:
MD or DO from an accredited medical school OR Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Physician Assistant (PA) from an accredited program
Licensure:
Current, unrestricted license in any U.S. state, territory, or D.C. Must be eligible for licensure in Minnesota
Experience:
Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in outpatient, primary care, or urgent/walk-in care settings preferred Experience in rural, tribal, or underserved communities strongly preferred
Certifications:
Current BLS (required) ACLS (preferred) DEA registration (or eligibility to obtain)
