Job-ID29346423Reference26-02006 Title: Senior Databricks Solutions Architect Location: Remote, open to any US location; occasional travel - 25-50% Target Start Date: ASAP Type: D Salary / Pay Rate: DOE Why Work Here This is a boutique data and AI consultancy with a builder-led, remote-first culture that values ownership, open debate, and shipping work that makes a real difference. There are no sacred cows here; if you have a better idea, you are expected to make the case, and the best path forward wins. The firm is GenAI first, uses AI across its own work, and serves mid-market and enterprise clients with a strong focus on private equity. Databricks approached the firm to build this partnership, which is rare for a boutique, and this is the first technical hire for the practice. It is a high-growth, high-visibility role with a clear path to running the Databricks practice within about a year.
About the Role: We are looking for a hands-on Databricks Solutions Architect who designs and builds, not someone who directs others to do it. You will be the technical lead on Databricks engagements and the technical complement to the practice's leadership, architecting and implementing lakehouse solutions on Azure or AWS Databricks. A big part of the role is holding your own with Databricks' own solutions architects: going deep on lakehouse architecture and engineering, solutioning on the fly, and pushing back when a recommendation does not fit the client's use case. As the practice grows, you will help hire, help sell, and take on leadership of the practice.
Responsibilities: Design and build lakehouse solutions on Azure or AWS Databricks, from ingestion through consumption Run Databricks engagements end to end, from technical discovery through delivery Write production code in Python, PySpark, and SQL, and prototype solutions hands-on Implement medallion architecture, Unity Catalog governance, Delta Lake, and Lakeflow or Delta Live Tables pipelines Lead deep technical conversations with Databricks solutions architects and push back when a recommendation does not fit the use case Solution on the fly in client and partner meetings as the strongest technical voice in the room Build reusable patterns and accelerators that speed up future engagements Help hire engineers and support sales pursuits as the practice grows Grow into leading the Databricks practice, with mentorship from the firm's leadership Required Skills 10 to 12 years of data engineering or data architecture experience Databricks Champion status Deep, hands-on Databricks product knowledge on Azure or AWS Databricks At least 1 or 2 end-to-end Databricks solutions you designed and built, whether greenfield, refactor, or migration, covering lakehouse, analytics, or AI use cases Strong Python, PySpark, and SQL skills Deep knowledge of Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, medallion architecture, and Lakeflow or Delta Live Tables Experience running technical engagements in client-facing roles Confident, clear communicator who can hold a technical position with demanding stakeholders Bonus / Soft Skills Databricks professional certification, such as Data Engineer Professional or Machine Learning Professional Experience on both Azure and AWS Databricks GenAI and agent experience on Databricks, such as Mosaic AI or Agent Bricks Experience using Claude or other AI tools in day-to-day engineering Work with private equity backed companies Infrastructure as code experience, such as Terraform Financial services or insurance exposure Technology-agnostic, use-case-first mindset Thick skin and comfort with fast, direct debate Welcome to Consult Net, a premier national provider of technology talent and solutions.
