A contract opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher skilled in working with students on the autism spectrum, particularly those requiring a self-contained setting with severe to profound needs. This full-time position runs through the end of the school year and offers a welcoming, team-oriented school culture.
What You'll Bring:
- Valid Washington ESA certificate with Special Education endorsement
- Demonstrated experience supporting students with autism, preferably in self-contained settings for severe/profound needs
- Strong ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with families, specialists, and the multidisciplinary team
- Completion of required district Vector training prior to starting
- Ability to provide professional references as part of the hiring process
Your Primary Responsibilities:
- Guide and instruct a self-contained class of approximately 9 students, offering personalized, compassionate support
- Develop and adapt lesson plans and behavioral interventions tailored to each student’s learning goals
- Track student progress and maintain accurate documentation according to IEPs and district standards
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, therapists, and school administrators to ensure comprehensive student care
- Foster an inclusive, respectful classroom where every student feels valued and understood
