Pediatric Dental Assistant

Sage Dental is seeking a Pediatric Dental Assistant to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you’ll support pediatric dentists with chairside assisting, patient preparation, X-rays, sterilization, and ensuring a positive experience for children and families. Prepare pediatric treatment rooms and ensure all instruments and materials are clean, organized, and properly sterilized before and after each patient visit. Assist the pediatric dentist chairside using four-handed dentistry techniques during exams, cleanings, restorative treatments, and other pediatric procedures. Help children and their parents feel comfortable by explaining procedures in child-friendly language and providing reassurance and support throughout the visit. Take, develop, and upload digital dental radiographs (X-rays) in accordance with safety protocols and the pediatric dentist’s instructions. Document treatment notes, medical histories, and relevant patient information accurately in the electronic health record system. Provide age-appropriate oral hygiene instruction and post-treatment care guidance to children and their parents or guardians. Assist with procedures such as sealant placement, fluoride treatments, impressions, and coronal polishing where permitted by state regulations and practice policy. Maintain strict infection control standards, including instrument sterilization, operatory disinfection, and adherence to OSHA and CDC guidelines. Support front-office functions as needed, including scheduling, confirming appointments, and helping coordinate patient flow for an efficient pediatric schedule. Monitor inventory of pediatric dental supplies and materials, and communicate needs to the appropriate team member to ensure adequate stock. Collaborate closely with dentists, hygienists, and other team members to provide a seamless, patient-focused experience for children and their families at Sage Dental. Participate in ongoing training and development to stay current with pediatric dental techniques, safety standards, and practice technologies.
