Beacon Hill was founded to set a new standard in search, career placement and flexible staffing. Beacon Hill is hiring an Equities Counsel for a full-time, 4-5-month secondment in our client's New York City office.
Role The successful candidate will advise the Markets division on equities products and services, develop legal strategies, and help ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, standards, and controls. This includes drafting and maintaining legal documentation, monitoring regulatory developments, delivering training, and supporting litigation, arbitration, and regulatory investigations. The Counsel will lead complex legal and risk initiatives, influence senior leaders and external stakeholders, strengthen governance, and provide strategic direction - while mentoring colleagues and promoting high performance across the team.
Key Responsibilities:
Advise the Markets division on equities products, services, and transactions
Develop legal strategies and ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, and internal policies, standards, and controls
Draft, negotiate, and maintain legal documentation
Monitor regulatory developments and assess business impact
Deliver training to business and legal colleagues
Support litigation, arbitration, and regulatory investigations
Lead complex legal and risk initiatives; influence senior leaders and external stakeholders
Strengthen governance frameworks and provide strategic direction
Mentor colleagues and foster a high-performance culture
Qualifications:
Minimum 8 years of post-qualification experience, with broad markets and product expertise
Deep knowledge of equities products and services
Exceptional judgment and the ability to make and clearly communicate significant business and legal decisions
Proven ability to lead complex initiatives and influence senior stakeholders
Strong drafting, analytical, and communication skills
