School Registered Nurse | Waltham, Massachusetts

Seeking a compassionate and skilled nurse to support an elementary student with complex medical needs for the upcoming school year, continuing through June 2027, with the possibility of extending into summer programs. This contract opportunity calls for a Registered Nurse or a highly experienced Licensed Practical Nurse ready to make a real difference in a young student's life. Work Monday through Friday, 32-37.5 hours per week, as a 1:1 nurse for a 3-year-old with significant healthcare needs. The student's medical background includes severe neonatal HIE, epilepsy with myoclonic and tonic seizures (managed with Keppra and Onfi), and a history of traumatic brain injury. This role involves close collaboration with school staff and healthcare providers to ensure safety, medication administration, and daily care. Qualifications & Experience Active RN license (or highly seasoned LPN) in Massachusetts Experience with pediatric complex medical conditions, especially neurological and seizure disorders Comfort administering medications for epilepsy and monitoring for clinical changes Prior school nurse or pediatric nursing experience preferred Strong communication and documentation abilities Ability to respond effectively in crisis situations Key Responsibilities Provide 1:1 nursing care throughout the school day for the assigned student Administer medications as prescribed and monitor for side effects Implement physician-ordered seizure protocols and monitor student's health status Communicate regularly with parents, school personnel, and healthcare providers Maintain thorough daily health documentation Support the student during academic and daily school routines This full-time, school-based position offers steady hours in a supportive educational environment where your expertise has a direct, positive impact each day.
