Public Works Director

Posted Date: 09/17/2026 The Village of Oswego, a fast‑growing community of nearly 40,000 residents located 40 miles southwest of Chicago, is seeking an accomplished, forward‑thinking leader to serve as its next Director of Public Works. This is a unique opportunity to guide one of Oswego’s largest and most impactful departments during an exciting period of growth, investment and long‑range infrastructure planning. The Director will guide major infrastructure initiatives, including the transition to Lake Michigan water, improvements along the Wolfs Crossing corridor, the completion of a new Public Works facility and supporting continued community growth.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in public administration, civil engineering or related field 7+ years public works experience 5+ years supervisory experience Valid Illinois driver’s license

Preferred: Master’s degree in public or business administration CompensationSalary range effective January 1, 2027: $142,563–$213,866; anticipated hiring range up to $185,000. Comprehensive insurance, IMRF participation, 457 plan, paid leave, professional development, vehicle and phone allowances.
