Syntax Talent Solutions is partnering with an established, nationally recognized manufacturing organization seeking an experienced Plant Cost Controller to join its finance team. This is an opportunity for a hands-on manufacturing accounting professional to take ownership of plant-level financial reporting, cost accounting, and inventory while partnering closely with operations and senior finance leadership. The organization is undergoing operational transformation and digitalization initiatives, offering an opportunity to improve processes and potentially expand responsibilities across additional manufacturing facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Own month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close for an assigned manufacturing plant, including general ledger accounting and financial reporting.
Perform product costing, gross margin analysis, and manufacturing variance analysis, including labor, materials, and overhead.
Manage inventory accounting, reconciliations, and support physical inventory procedures.
Analyze financial results against budgets, forecasts, and prior periods.
Partner with Plant Managers, Controllers, operations, engineering, and supply chain to improve cost visibility and operational performance.
Support budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and external audits.
Identify opportunities to streamline reporting and improve processes through Excel, ERP systems, and Power BI.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.5–10 years of progressive manufacturing cost accounting experience Strong understanding of standard costing, inventory accounting, and manufacturing variances.
- Experience with month-end close, general ledger, and plant financial reporting.
- AI and automation
- Advanced Excel skills required.
- ERP experience required; JD Edwards (JDE) preferred.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with plant operations.
- CPA preferred but not required.
