Pre-Op Registered Nurse

Piedmont Healthcare is seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Pre-Op team. In this role, you will perform comprehensive pre-operative assessments, verify surgical consents, initiate IV therapy, administer ordered medications, and ensure patients are prepared both physically and emotionally for procedures. You’ll collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative staff while maintaining accurate EMR documentation and strict safety standards. Perform comprehensive pre-operative nursing assessments and history reviews Verify consents, allergies, NPO status, and required pre-op testing Initiate and manage IV access and administer ordered medications Educate patients and families on procedures, expectations, and post-op care Monitor vital signs and patient status, escalating concerns as needed Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative team members Ensure accurate and timely EMR documentation of all care provided Maintain infection control, safety, and quality standards in the pre-op area Coordinate patient flow to the OR to support on-time starts Participate in ongoing training and quality improvement initiatives Pre-operative patient assessment IV insertion and management Medication administration Electronic medical records (EMR) documentation Patient and family education Care coordination Pre-op protocols and checklists Vital signs and monitoring Infection control practices Interdisciplinary communication Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Active Georgia RN license Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred Pre-op/PACU experience preferred
