Job Description:
The Project Engineer Designer is responsible for the independent design and technical evaluation of fire suppression and fire alarm systems. This role applies engineering judgment to determine system configurations, interpret fire protection codes and standards, develop compliant system designs, and provide technical support to project teams. The position is accountable for the technical accuracy of assigned projects and supports system commissioning, inspections, and documentation efforts.
Qualifications:- Minimum 5 years of technical experience in the fire protection industry
- Working knowledge of fire protection codes and standards
- Ability to analyze building conditions and apply technical standards to system design
- Ability to interpret technical documentation and project specifications
- Strong technical communication and documentation skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other business software
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving recordNICET certification or progress toward certification preferred
Key Responsibilities:- Design fire suppression, fire alarm, and life safety systems
- Develop and update system design drawings, including as-built revisions
- Evaluate field conditions and determine required design modifications
- Interpret codes and standards to ensure system compliance
- Review inspection findings and recommend corrective design actions
- Conduct site evaluations and provide technical project support
- Assist with system startup, commissioning, inspections, and preventive maintenance
- Create operation and maintenance manuals and project closeout documentation
- Coordinate design requirements with internal and external project teams
- Participate in manufacturer training programs and stay current on industry best practices
