Description:
At LHD, we believe employee wellbeing works best when it goes beyond checking a box. Our Population Health team partners with employers and their employees to create meaningful, practical approaches to health and wellbeing that meet people where they are.
As a Health Coach / Wellness Coordinator, you’ll have the opportunity to work directly with individuals while also helping shape broader wellbeing strategies for our clients. Some days that may mean coaching an employee through a personal health goal. Other days, you may be developing an engagement campaign, facilitating a wellbeing program, reviewing participation trends, or partnering with a client on what their workforce needs next.
If you enjoy building relationships, helping people make sustainable changes, and bringing health and wellbeing programs to life, this role gives you the opportunity to do all three.
Why LHD? We want our employees to have the resources, flexibility, and support to do great work and build a career they enjoy. At LHD, you can expect:
Comprehensive benefits, including free access to an employer-paid health clinic.
A robust retirement program, including access to free financial and retirement planning support to help you prepare for the future.
PTO from day one, with no waiting period to begin accruing or using time off.
Ongoing professional development, including access to education, training, and other opportunities to continue building your skills and capabilities.
Access to our internal wellness program, including a free gym, walking trail, golf simulator, basketball courts, and more.
Everyday office perks, including a daily fruit bar and espresso machine.
What You’ll Do:
You’ll serve as both a trusted health coach and a partner in the delivery of our clients’ wellbeing programs. Your work will include:
Providing individual health coaching through in-person, virtual, and telephonic interactions.
Using evidence-based coaching techniques, including motivational interviewing, goal setting, and readiness-for-change principles, to help individuals make sustainable changes.
Building meaningful relationships with employees and proactively connecting them with health and wellbeing resources.
Creating individualized action plans and helping employees navigate available employer-sponsored resources.
Planning and delivering wellbeing initiatives such as educational programs, challenges, campaigns, workshops, webinars, and health fairs.
Partnering with client contacts, LHD team members, and wellbeing vendors to understand workforce needs and deliver programs that support them.
Participating in client wellbeing meetings and bringing ideas and recommendations that improve employee engagement and program effectiveness.
Tracking coaching activity, participation, engagement, and program results to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
What Will Help You Succeed This role is a strong fit for someone who is comfortable working independently but genuinely enjoys building relationships with employees, clients, teammates, and external partners.
You’ll likely thrive here if you:
Know how to meet people where they are rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach to coaching.
Can build trust quickly and have meaningful conversations with people from a variety of backgrounds.
Are comfortable presenting and facilitating both one-on-one and group conversations.
Can move between individual coaching and broader program planning.
Notice patterns, ask good questions, and use information to recommend what should happen next.
Take ownership of your work and follow through on commitments.
Enjoy an environment where you have room to contribute ideas instead of simply executing a predefined program.
Requirements:
What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree in health science, nutrition, dietetics, or a related field.
Five or more years of health coaching experience.
Health Coach Certification from a nationally accredited organization, or the ability to obtain certification within your first year.
Experience supporting workplace wellness or employee wellbeing programs is preferred.
Experience with health or public health communications.
Familiarity with lifestyle medicine and stages of readiness for change is preferred.
Strong written, verbal, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
Comfort using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability to travel to client locations up to approximately 20%, based on client and program needs.
The role is based in Central Indiana and requires regular in-person work at LHD and at client locations throughout the region. While some flexibility may be available based on business and client needs, candidates should live within a practical commuting distance of the Indianapolis/Central Indiana area. Travel to client locations may account for up to approximately 20% of the role.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States. LHD is unable to provide employment visa sponsorship for this position now or in the future.
