Inside Machinist (Marine Mechanic) (SkillBridge Intern) This is an UNPAID internship through the DoD SkillBridge Program for transitioning active-duty US military personnel. The intern will actively train on meaningful projects and work closely with a mentor and with senior company leadership. Objective The SkillBridge intern will train as an Inside Machinist (Marine Mechanic) within HII-Mission Technologies, reporting to a designated HII Supervisor, with the goal of learning the performing as an Inside Machinist at HII Mission Technologies SEMAT Hawaii, capable of independently machining, fabricating, and refurbishing shipboard components while providing technical support to USN Surface Ships at Pearl Harbor. The intern will be assigned special projects as needed. Desired End State (3-4 month target) At the end of four months, the intern will gain a deeper understanding: Machine Shop Operations ProficiencyTechnical Documentation & Quality ControlShipboard Component Fabrication & Customer InterfaceContinuous Throughout: Weekly progress reviews, physical conditioning for shipboard work (30+ lb lifting), professional developmentMinimum Qualifications Active-Duty Military ONLY within final 180 days of active-duty service.
