About the role:
Nexus Employment Solutions Plus Inc. is seeking an experienced electrical professional to keep a high-volume food production operation in the Manteno, IL area running safely and reliably. You will install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair plant electrical and controls systems to support continuous, high-quality output. Enjoy an excellent working environment. A day in the life You start your shift by reviewing maintenance logs and upcoming production changeovers. You’ll move from inspecting a motor control center, to checking PLC I/O on a new line, to diagnosing a nuisance trip on a VFD. When a conveyor stops unexpectedly, you use test equipment to quickly isolate a failed relay, swap the component, verify operation at the HMI, and get the line back to target rate. You wrap the day by coaching an operator on safe lockout and basic panel indicators.
What you’ll do:- Install, service, and repair wiring, conduit, panels, motors, and industrial control systems.
- Set up electrical components for new and existing production lines in line with safety and regulatory standards.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to catch issues before they cause downtime.
- Diagnose faults using advanced test instruments; repair or replace wiring, switches, relays, and breakers.
- Program and sustain PLCs; troubleshoot PLCs, VFDs, and HMIs to ensure stable, automated operations.
- Complete safety inspections and risk assessments; mitigate electrical hazards.
- Train production and maintenance personnel on safe operation and basic troubleshooting.
- What you bring
- Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Strong knowledge of AC/DC motors, motor controls, control circuits, and power distribution.
- Hands-on PLC programming, troubleshooting, and repair experience.
- Familiarity with VFDs, HMIs, and related automation hardware.
- Proficiency with meters and analyzers such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and insulation testers.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 5 years as an Industrial Electrical Technician, ideally within food manufacturing.

Schedule: 1st / 2nd shift
Pay: $32.00 – $38.00 per hour
