The Opportunity:
In the world of live broadcast, every second counts and every frame matters. At THUMBWAR, we don't just manage media; we power the workflows that bring world-class content to life. We are looking for a Senior Media Manager who thrives in the "controlled chaos" of live events - a leader who views Media Asset Management as a high-stakes chess match where organization, speed, and technical precision are the winning moves.
If you are a MAM expert who wants to move away from the static archives and into the heart of live production, this is your arena.
Key Responsibilities Command Live Workflows: Lead daily MAM operations with a focus on live event support, ensuring that media is ingested, logged, and moved through the pipeline with zero friction.
Architect Collaboration: Serve as the primary bridge between clients, production teams, and engineering to ensure metadata accuracy and asset availability during high-pressure broadcasts.
Build the "Dream Team": Mentor and develop a high-performing MAM team. You aren't just a manager; you're a coach setting the standard for technical excellence.
Drive System Evolution: Partner with the Engineering team to stress-test, maintain, and upgrade our media infrastructure, ensuring our tech stack stays ahead of industry demands.
Workflow Documentation: Author the "Playbook\." Create and maintain the technical documentation and training guides that keep our operations scalable and consistent.
Strategic Project Leadership: Oversee special projects aimed at operational enhancements - turning "how we do it" into "how it's done better\."
The Ideal Candidate:
You are Unflappable: When a live feed is active and the pressure is on, you remain the calmest person in the room.
You are a Tech Polymath: You understand the "why" behind the "how", whether it's a code issue, a metadata bottleneck, or a cloud sync error.
You are Client-Obsessed: You understand that our success is defined by our clients' ability to find and use their media instantly.
You are a Process Optimizer: You have a "continuous improvement" mindset, constantly looking for ways to shave seconds off a workflow or add depth to a database.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Broadcast, or a related technical field.
5+ years of hands-on experience in Media Asset Management (MAM) and 5+ years in a technical broadcast or digital media environment.
Deep expertise in the content lifecycle - from camera capture and ingest to archive and distribution.
Proven experience navigating the fast-paced, high-pressure environments typical of live sports, news, or entertainment.
Mastery of MAM software, digital delivery tools, and a strong understanding of server/storage infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications Project Leadership: Experience managing technical projects or system migrations.
Advanced Tools:
Familiarity with AI-driven tagging, automated QC workflows, or cloud-native MAM solutions
Local Advantage: Strong ties to the Los Angeles media production community
