Procurement Specialist
Location: Colwich, KS – Wichita Area | Onsite
Compensation: $75,000–$95,000 base, depending on experience
Relocation Assistance: Available
Want to Get In on the Ground Floor? There are purchasing jobs where you inherit someone else’s processes, suppliers and “this is how we’ve always done it” playbook. This isn’t one of them. We’re hiring three Procurement Specialists to help build out a new procurement function within a growing engineering and technology organization supporting complex industrial projects across the country. You’ll still do the things great procurement professionals do — source suppliers, negotiate, manage POs, solve problems and keep materials moving. But here, you’ll also have a chance to help shape how procurement gets done. You’ll work alongside engineering, project management and operations, supporting real projects where the equipment and materials you source eventually become part of something much bigger than a spreadsheet or purchase order. If you like procurement, enjoy solving the occasional “we need WHAT, by WHEN?” problem, and want more ownership than simply pushing POs through a system, keep reading.
What You’ll Do:
Review purchase requisitions, Bills of Material (BOMs), project requirements and basic technical specifications.
Source materials, equipment and services from qualified suppliers.
Request and evaluate supplier quotes, pricing, lead times and commercial terms.
Create and manage purchase orders throughout the procurement lifecycle.
Partner with engineering, project management and operations to understand what is needed — and when.
Communicate with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, shipping requirements, delivery schedules and order status.
Get ahead of supply, delivery and purchasing issues before they become project problems.
Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier information within ERP/MRP systems.
Support supplier performance, cost, quality and delivery initiatives.
Help develop and continuously improve procurement processes, tools and best practices as the new function takes shape.
What We’re Looking For:
3+ years of purchasing, procurement, sourcing, supply chain or related experience.
Experience within manufacturing, construction, engineering, industrial or project-driven environments preferred.
Experience managing supplier relationships and purchasing activities beyond simply processing POs.
Ability to understand purchase requisitions, BOMs, supplier quotes, commercial terms, shipping requirements, project requirements and basic technical specifications.
Experience using ERP/MRP purchasing systems.
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations experience is strongly preferred; comparable ERP procurement experience absolutely counts.
Strong organization, communication and follow-through.
Someone comfortable juggling priorities and working across engineering, operations, project teams and suppliers.
A collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset — particularly important when you're helping build something new.

- Why This One?
- Because joining an established procurement department and helping build one are two very different opportunities.
- The organization is investing in procurement, adding new leadership and hiring three specialists to build the team.
- That means you'll have the opportunity to influence processes, contribute ideas and grow alongside the function — while supporting meaningful engineering and industrial projects where you can actually see the impact of what you buy.
- If you've ever thought, “I know a better way to do this,” this might be your chance to help build it.
- This position is onsite in Colwich, Kansas, in the Wichita area. Local candidates are preferred, but relocation assistance is available for the right person.
