This role involves manually and mechanically collecting garbage, recycling, and bulk items from residential and commercial locations and loading materials into collection trucks for transport. This is a physically demanding, outdoor position that requires stamina, teamwork, and a strong commitment to safety.
Key Responsibilities:- Manually lift, drag, and empty trash bins, bags, and bulk items into collection trucks
- Operate hydraulic arms or levers on automated and semi-automated dumpsters
- Assist driver with backing and navigating routes safely
- Monitor surroundings for safety hazards
- Pick up dropped debris to maintain clean streets and job sites
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required protective equipment
- Report issues or concerns to dispatch as needed
- Physical & Environmental Requirements:
- Frequently lift and move items weighing up to 75 pounds
- Continuous standing, walking, bending, stooping, and kneeling
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow
- Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the shift
