**Production Assistant, *Sports with Just Jim* (SEC Sports Podcast) Part-time | Birmingham, AL + remote editing | Some Saturday game-day travel during football season** *Sports with Just Jim* is a year-round SEC sports podcast: football in the fall, basketball and baseball in winter and spring. We're a small, fast-growing show looking for a production assistant to work side by side with our host, Jim, from weekly prep through game-day shoots.
Schedule: Monday and Tuesday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., in person with Jim in Birmingham
Wednesday and Thursday: flexible hours; editing can be done remotely
Saturday:
travel with Jim to a college campus for game-day shoots (all travel costs covered)
What you'll do:
Prep: Help Jim organize his notes for each weekly episode and turn them into clear bullet points.
Teleprompter: Load the bullet points into the teleprompter before recording.
Rehearsal:
Run practice takes with Jim, give feedback, and encourage him to bring out his humor when the moment is right.
Editing:
Edit each episode in Descript and turn it around quickly, since our content is time-sensitive.
Social video:
Film Jim for short-form clips (shot on his phone), edit them, and upload them to Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
Game days: Shoot on-campus content with Jim on Saturdays.
Who you are:
Patient, compassionate, and encouraging: you'll work closely with Jim and support him in doing his best work on camera
Comfortable with Descript, or with similar editing software and quick to learn
Able to shoot and edit short vertical video that performs on social media
Organized, reliable, and good on short deadline
A college sports fan (knowing the SEC is a big plus)
Requirements:
Your own computer for editing is a plus, but not required
Saturday availability during the season
Great fit for:
early-career creators looking for hands-on production experience and a flexible schedule.
