Packaging Technician – 2nd Shift
Location: Athens, GA Shift: 2nd Shift, 3:00 PM – 1:00 AM (10-hour shift)
Job Summary:
Sigma Systems is seeking an experienced Packaging Technician for a 2-month contract opportunity at our client's manufacturing facility in Athens, GA. This onsite position is ideal for candidates with experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, vaccine packaging, production line operations, labeling, and quality inspection. The Packaging Technician will operate packaging machinery, inspect and package finished vaccine products, maintain production line efficiency, and ensure compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate packaging equipment, including labelers, pick-and-place systems, heat tunnels, and vision inspection systems.
Label, inspect, and package vaccine products according to established quality standards.
Perform equipment setup, changeovers, and initial troubleshooting to minimize production downtime.
Monitor production line performance and help meet established production targets.
Complete batch records, batch tickets, and manufacturing documentation accurately and on time.
Follow cGMP guidelines, SOPs, and quality assurance requirements.
Assist with QA line clearances and verify that packaging areas are ready for production.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe manufacturing environment.
Communicate production updates, equipment issues, and process deviations to the shift leader or supervisor.
Collaborate with production, quality, and other departments to meet manufacturing goals.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Associate degree preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.2–3 years of manufacturing or production experience.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
Basic math and computer skills.
Ability to troubleshoot equipment and identify production issues.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
Willingness to work onsite on the 2nd shift schedule.
Preferred Qualifications:- 5+ years of related manufacturing or packaging experience.
- Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, vaccine, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of cGMP documentation, SOPs, batch records, and quality procedures.
- Experience operating automated packaging and labeling equipment.
