Application for Merit Deputy Sheriff & Reserve Deputy Sheriff Vermillion County Sheriff's Office. Starting salary for a Merit Deputy is $47,200.
Basic Requirements:
Must be 21 years of age or older and a high school graduate or equivalent.
Must submit to a background investigation and polygraph exam.
Must possess excellent keyboarding skills, ability to multi-task and utilize several computers at once.
Must be able to handle both fast-paced, high-stress situations that require quick decisions that can be followed by periods of downtime.
Must be able to work a wide variety of shifts (mainly 12-hr shifts) including nights, weekends and holidays.
Ability to complete an extensive training program, obtain required certifications, some of which include travel.
Must pass random drug testing.
Has 1-year probationary period.
Perform physical fitness test as required by the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy.
The successful candidate must be a resident of Vermillion County or must agree to relocate to Vermillion County within a reasonable period of time (not later than six months after hire).
