$140 - $151/hrAstrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a Surgical Physician Assistant (SPA) for a locum tenens assignment in Saint Louis, Missouri. These positions are 26-week contracts with the ability to extend. Responsibilities for a Surgical Physician Assistant (SPA):Provide ongoing OR first assist coverage with clinic support and call for a cardiothoracic/cardiac surgery team supported by 5 Cardiac Surgeons and an Intensivist Work regular shifts from 0600–1830, with weeknight call coverage from 1800–0600 (1 night per week) and rotating weekend call from 0600–0600 Submit availability for January–March, as the client schedules 3 months in advance Perform coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) Perform valve repair and replacement, including aortic, mitral, and tricuspid proceduresAssist with ascending aortic surgery, including emergent dissections Perform left atrial appendage exclusion and Maze proceduresAssist with redo sternotomies Support mechanical circulatory support procedures including Impella, ECMO cannulation, and IABPPerform endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) using the Maquet EVH System Perform sternotomy opening and closure Place chest tubes and temporary pacing wires Utilize Epic EMR/charting system for documentation Maintain a minimum of 2 years of independent adult cardiac surgery OR first assist experience Maintain board certification as required Maintain valid MO state licensure Maintain current BLS certification; RNFA preferred for NP candidates Ensure resume/CV includes specific department and role details (required for APP candidates) Submit CV with education and work history in mm/yy–mm/yy format Provide explanations for any work history gaps exceeding 30 days Adhere to COVID-19 vaccine requirements (medical/religious exemptions considered) Comply with all facility policies, procedures, and credentialing requirements Benefits for a Surgical Physician Assistant (SPA):Weekly pay every Friday Comprehensive Professional Malpractice Insurance24/7 Recruitment Support Full-service Credentialing and Corporate Travel Team Referral Bonus up to $1,500 Astrya Global Medical Staffing offers 10+ years of staffing experience, 100% domestic support, and is certified by both the Joint Commission and National Association of Locum Tenens Organizations.
