American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN with 2+ years of experience and an active NY license for a night shift position on a joint center of excellence unit. Details:34-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit with a joint center of excellence specializing in hip, knee, and shoulder replacements Also treats general surgery cases (appendectomies, exploratory laps, hernias) and telemetry medical patients Unique unit with wall suction capability, accepting all small bowel obstruction (SBO) cases Patient population spans adolescents to elderly Staffing ratio of 1:9 on all shifts Care delivery model includes 1 RN, 1 LPN, and 1 PCT per 9 patients, with modified teams used when full teams are unavailable Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:00 AM) Every other weekend (EOW) coverage required, either alternating weekends or 4 weekend shifts per month Floating required to other Med/Surg units
Requirements:
- Active NY RN license required in hand
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Skills in IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
- Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube management, and high flow nasal cannula
- Experience with telemetry monitoring (on-unit and remote) and dysrhythmia management/interpretation
- Wound care/wound vac and ostomy management skills
- Experience with IV insulin protocols and heparin protocols
Additional Information:
- Provide nursing care across orthopedic, ortho trauma, total joint replacement, plastics, and general surgical patient populations
- Manage surgical drains and support post-operative recovery for joint replacement patients
- Scrubs must be navy blue and/or white, in any combination
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be considered
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Returning staff must have at least 6 months since their last assignment, system-wide
- Candidates with more than 10 days of requested time off (RTO) will not be considered
