Drone Pilot: FlyGuys

Employer: FlyGuys

Location: Nationwide in the United States Applicants have the pilot certificate information, aircraft details, preferred mission locations, and current profile records ready before registration. The first account choices concern the aircraft available for missions and the service areas that should receive priority. Mission Work Across Aerial Data Fields Drone pilots accept assignments that turn aerial capture into usable information for business and infrastructure work. Commercial flights may support mapping, inspection, construction monitoring, surveying, real estate documentation, solar projects, forestry, agriculture, or emergency response. The assignment determines the flight area, capture method, safety review, and files required after the aircraft returns. Review mission details and confirm interest and availability. Plan and conduct drone flights for the assigned data request. Capture aerial photographs, video, mapping data, or inspection imagery when the mission requires it. Keep the pilot profile, equipment list, and certification records current. Field work begins with a site review, aircraft checks, battery planning, and an airspace assessment. The pilot also keeps visual awareness of the aircraft and surrounding traffic while collecting the requested data. Accurate file organization matters after landing because project teams use aerial material for measurements, inspections, documentation, and later analysis. Aircraft And Pilot Records FlyGuys requires an applicant-owned drone, and the company identifies the Mavic 2 Pro and Phantom 4 Pro among common aircraft in its pilot network. The FAQ also identifies the Mavic 3 Enterprise and Matrice 4 Enterprise as recommended equipment, with Mavic 3 Thermal and Matrice 4 Thermal recommended for thermal work. The aircraft list therefore needs to match the kind of mission a pilot intends to accept. The pilot portal stores current equipment and certification information alongside service areas, questionnaires, and documents. An incomplete registration prevents a pilot from accepting or rejecting eligible missions. Equipment records need accurate model details, and certification records need renewal updates before the aircraft is assigned to a new project. Part 107 Certification And Safe Flight The FAA remote pilot requirements set a minimum age of 16, English language ability, and physical and mental fitness for safe flight. A first-time remote pilot passes the Unmanned Aircraft General Small knowledge exam, obtains an FAA Tracking Number in IACRA, completes Form 8710-13, and completes the required security review. The permanent certificate follows the temporary certificate process after the FAA receives the required information. Part 107 recurrent training must be completed within the previous 24 calendar months for continued operation under the rule. The remote pilot certificate remains accessible during UAS operations, and the pilot keeps the certificate information current in the FlyGuys account. A certificate alone does not replace flight planning, airspace review, or responsibility for safe operation. FAA commercial rules cover small drones weighing less than 55 pounds and require pilots to avoid manned aircraft. The FAA commercial operations guidance also addresses aircraft registration, Remote ID, controlled airspace authorization, night flights, and operations near airports. The operating conditions determine which approvals and safeguards apply to a particular mission. Contract Pilot Network And Account Setup FlyGuys works primarily with contract pilots rather than hiring full-time pilots. Account holders become eligible for assignments after registration, and FlyGuys contacts a pilot when a project is available in the selected area. Preferred service locations guide the matching process without preventing work outside those areas. The pilot account remains an active work record rather than a one-time form. Equipment, certificates, service areas, questionnaires, and documents need current entries before a mission can be accepted or rejected. The FlyGuys Pilot App carries mission notifications and details, while the portal supports the records required for field operations. FlyGuys is headquartered at 221 Jefferson Street in Lafayette, Louisiana. The company supports aerial data work for energy, forestry, industrial, mining, transmission, and distribution projects in addition to the fields listed above. That range gives a qualified pilot several types of field assignment to match against aircraft capability and certification status. The pilot network has no fee to join. FlyGuys maintains support at support@flyguys.com and 1-888-837-0940 for account questions, including FAA number and equipment-list issues. The support team also handles questions about missing equipment entries and pilot records. FlyGuys records that its platform has handled more than 20,000 uploaded files and up to 500 GB without reported issues. Large transfers can take three to five hours when 6,000 files average 5 to 6 MB, depending on the internet connection. The platform accepts zipped folders and individual files, but unzipped folders are not accepted. A pilot preparing a large mission package keeps the deliverables in one of the accepted forms before transfer.
