Overview:
A growing, engineering-driven manufacturer is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to design and develop custom automated equipment and integrated material handling systems. This role is responsible for creating detailed 3D models, assemblies, and production drawings while ensuring designs meet performance requirements, manufacturability standards, and customer specifications. This is a hands-on role offering exposure to full project lifecycles—from concept through design validation and field implementation.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop custom equipment and system layouts using SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software
Create and maintain:
- Assembly models and detailed drawings
- Approval and fabrication prints
- Pneumatic and hydraulic schematics
- Analyze equipment specifications and performance requirements to develop practical, manufacturable designs
- Evaluate feasibility of new designs or modifications based on cost, space, fabrication methods, and timelines
- Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to validate design integrity and performance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration with electrical systems, controls, and adjacent equipment
- Review field installations and provide design improvements for continuous optimization
Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, safety standards, and regulations (ANSI, OSHA, etc.)
