Thorp School District #400 is seeking dependable, safety-conscious Substitute School Bus Drivers to help transport students safely to and from school. This is a great opportunity for experienced CDL drivers who enjoy working with students, value safety, and want a flexible substitute driving position in a supportive school environment. As a Substitute School Bus Driver, you will play an important role in helping students arrive at their destinations safely. You'll operate school buses in varying weather and road conditions, including snow and ice, while maintaining a safe and respectful environment for student passengers.
Key Responsibilities:
Safely operate a school bus in accordance with Washington State laws and school transportation regulations.
Transport students while maintaining passenger safety and appropriate behavior.
Perform required bus inspections, fueling, and cleaning.
Safely operate wheelchair lifts and assist students with boarding and exiting buses when needed.
Identify and report unsafe conditions or safety concerns.
Maintain accurate transportation records and complete required reports.
Communicate professionally with students, parents, school staff, and the public.
Perform other transportation-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with school bus endorsement required.
Current First Aid certification.
Knowledge of student transportation safety and preventative health practices.
Ability to operate a school bus safely in changing road and weather conditions.
Strong communication skills and a commitment to student safety.
