If you also love movies, even better. Metro Private Cinema is seeking a Director of event sales to grow private event revenue at our flagship Chelsea location and help shape our events sales strategy as we expand. Created by Tim League, founder of Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, Metro pairs 20 private cinema suites with upscale contemporary dining, an ambitious wine and cocktail program and highly personalized service. Our spaces host corporate gatherings, private screenings, celebrations, meetings and experiences built around movies, sports, karaoke and gaming. We’re looking for an accomplished hospitality sales professional who sees the possibilities in that combination and knows how to sell. You’ll bring relationships, build new ones and turn both into repeat business. This is a hands-on senior sales role with ownership of prospecting, proposals, site visits, negotiations and closing. You’ll work closely with operations, culinary and service leadership to ensure a clear handoff and an exceptional client experience. The immediate focus is growing our New York business. As Metro expands, you’ll also help develop our broader events sales strategy and identify opportunities across locations. A second location in Austin, Texas is slated to open in March 2027.
What You’ll Do:
Own event sales : Lead the sales process from proactive outreach and initial inquiry through proposals, negotiation, contracts and handoff to Operations. Take responsibility for revenue goals and the activity needed to achieve them. Create new business : Build a focused outreach strategy targeting corporate clients, agencies, event planners, executive assistants, entertainment companies and luxury brands. Get in front of decision-makers through prospecting, networking and partnerships. Develop major accounts : Win clients with the potential for substantial events and recurring annual business. Turn individual bookings into lasting relationships, repeat events and referrals. Sell the experience : Conduct compelling site visits and client meetings. Understand what each client wants to accomplish and build proposals around Metro’s cinemas, food, beverage, technology and entertainment capabilities. Grow profitable revenue : Identify opportunities for additional spaces, premium food and beverage and custom programming. Balance event value with pricing discipline, operating costs and the team’s ability to deliver. Own the pipeline : Keep the CRM current, follow up consistently and provide clear sales forecasts. Track conversion, account activity and progress against goals, and adjust your approach when performance falls behind plan. Know and represent the market : Stay current on competing venues and client expectations. Represent Metro at relevant industry events and develop relationships that expand our reach in New York.
What Success Looks Like:
You grow event revenue through a combination of new accounts, strong inbound conversion and repeat business. Your pipeline is active, your forecasts are reliable and your bookings support profitable operations. You know your numbers. You forecast accurately. You close. Clients trust you, enjoy working with you and recommend Metro to others. Our operations team has the information and lead time needed to deliver exceptional events. What You’ll Bring At least three years of relevant private event sales or experiential sales experience, with a record of meeting or exceeding revenue goals. Demonstrated success generating new business through prospecting, networking and account development, alongside converting inbound inquiries. Experience selling high-value events or premium experiences, including proposals, site visits, pricing, contract negotiation and closing. Strong hospitality instincts and an understanding of elevated food and beverage service and premium client expectations. Disciplined CRM and pipeline management, accurate forecasting and excellent follow-through. Polished, personable communication and the credibility to build relationships with corporate decision-makers, agencies and event planners. Creativity, commercial judgment and personal ownership of results. Availability for client engagements, networking and events, including occasional evenings and weekends. Director-level, multi-venue or comparable senior sales experience is strongly preferred. Existing relationships within New York’s corporate, agency, event planning, entertainment or hospitality communities are a significant plus. You may come from a luxury hotel, restaurant group, private club, event venue, catering company or another premium experiential business. Cinema experience is not required. Titles matter less to us than results: we want to understand the business you’ve built and how you built it.
