About the Role:
Reef Health is looking for a motivated, relationship-driven Business Development Contractor to help grow our employer-focused sales channel. This is not simply an appointment-setting role. You will own the front end of the business-development process—from identifying and prospecting employers to building relationships, conducting initial discovery, qualifying opportunities, and creating genuine interest in Reef Health. Your goal is to create warm, informed, well-qualified opportunities before transitioning them to our licensed broker, who will handle the licensed benefits, quoting, enrollment, and plan-specific portions of the sales process. We're looking for someone who enjoys creating opportunities, talking with business owners and decision-makers, uncovering problems, and building relationships—not someone who wants to wait for leads to come to them.
What You'll Do:
Identify and prospect employer groups that fit Reef Health's target markets.
Generate new opportunities through outbound calling, email, networking, referrals, strategic partnerships, community involvement, events, and creative prospecting.
Build and maintain an active pipeline of prospective employers and strategic relationships.
Connect with business owners, executives, HR leaders, and other key decision-makers.
Introduce Reef Health and our value proposition at a high level using approved messaging and materials.
Conduct initial discovery to understand an employer's current benefits situation, challenges, priorities, renewal timing, decision-making process, and potential fit.
Identify genuine pain points and reasons an employer may be interested in exploring an alternative.
Develop interest and qualify opportunities before scheduling a meeting with our licensed broker.
Make sure the licensed broker enters each meeting with relevant background, pain points, timing, stakeholders, and discovery information.
Maintain consistent follow-up and proactively move opportunities through the pipeline.
Accurately track prospecting activity, conversations, opportunities, meetings, and next steps in our CRM.Work closely with Reef Health leadership and our licensed broker to continuously improve messaging, prospecting strategies, lead quality, and conversion.
Identify new industries, associations, franchise systems, partnerships, and other channels that could create meaningful growth opportunities.
What Success Looks Like:
We don't measure success simply by the number of meetings scheduled. We care about the quality and progression of the opportunities you create.
You'll be successful in this role if you consistently build a healthy pipeline, reach the right decision-makers, uncover real employer needs, create genuine interest in Reef Health, and deliver qualified opportunities that have a legitimate reason to move forward.
Who We're Looking ForYou may be a great fit if you:
Have experience in business development, outside sales, relationship development, lead generation, or another growth-focused role.
Are comfortable picking up the phone and creating conversations from scratch.
Know how to build rapport and relationships with business owners and decision-makers.
Are a strong communicator by phone, email, video, networking, and in person.
Ask good questions and naturally want to understand a prospect's business and challenges.
Are self-directed and don't need to rely on inbound leads.
Are persistent without being overly aggressive.
Stay organized and disciplined with follow-up and pipeline management.
Have an entrepreneurial mindset and enjoy testing new ways to generate business.
Want to be part of a growing organization where you can help shape the business-development process.
Bring professionalism, accountability, integrity, and good judgment to every interaction.
Important Licensing Boundary:
This is a business-development position and is not a licensed insurance producer role. You may introduce Reef Health at a high level, distribute approved materials, develop relationships, conduct general business discovery, collect prospect information, qualify opportunities, and arrange conversations with our licensed broker. You will not sell, solicit, negotiate, recommend, or place specific insurance products or provide plan-specific insurance advice. Specific questions involving coverage, plan recommendations, pricing, quoting, enrollment, deductibles, copays, exclusions, networks, pre-existing-condition provisions, or other activities requiring an insurance producer license will be handled by Reef Health's licensed broker.
Engagement Structure:
This is an independent contractor opportunity.
The contractor determines the manner, methods, and schedule used to perform services, subject to agreed-upon business objectives, compliance requirements, and scheduled prospect or client meetings.
Compensation includes a contractor retainer and the opportunity to earn additional compensation through Reef Health's Growth Bonus program. Additional compensation and engagement terms will be outlined in the Independent Contractor Engagement Agreement.
Why Reef Health?
This is an opportunity to do more than work a lead list. You'll have the ability to build relationships, create new channels, develop markets, and directly contribute to the growth of Reef Health's employer business.
If you're a relationship builder who enjoys opening doors, uncovering opportunities, and turning cold prospects into warm conversations, we'd like to hear from you.
