Youth Soccer Coach – Developmental Academy KLSA Developmental Academy
KLSA is looking to add 2–3 motivated youth soccer coaches to our growing coaching staff.
We are building something different.
KLSA is a developmental soccer academy focused on helping young players become complete, intelligent, confident soccer players. While competition is an important part of the game, our environment is built around development over winning, learning over fear of mistakes, and people over soccer politics.
We are looking for coaches who share those values—or coaches who are eager to learn how to create that kind of environment.
The Opportunity:
This is more than an opportunity to pick up a few coaching hours.
We want coaches who are interested in learning, improving, and growing with KLSA.
Coaches joining our academy will have the opportunity to learn the KLSA approach to player development, work alongside experienced coaches, receive feedback and mentorship, and develop their own coaching ability.
As KLSA continues to grow, we want our coaches to grow with us.
Coaches who demonstrate reliability, professionalism, strong player relationships, and alignment with our developmental philosophy will have opportunities to take on additional coaching hours, responsibilities, programs, and increased compensation over time.
Our Development Philosophy At KLSA, we believe youth soccer development should be about much more than winning games.
We take a holistic approach to player development, helping players grow technically, tactically, physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Our coaches are expected to create environments where players:
Spend significant time with the ball and develop strong individual technique
Learn to understand the game rather than simply follow instructions
Are encouraged to make decisions and solve problems
Are allowed to make mistakes and learn from them
Develop creativity, confidence, resilience, and independence
Are challenged appropriately for their individual developmental level
Learn to love the game and take ownership of their development
We believe the role of a youth coach is not simply to create a team that can win this weekend.
It is to help build the player that child can become years from now.
What You’ll Do:
KLSA coaches may work across several areas of the academy depending on experience, availability, and fit, including recreational programs, developmental training, small-group training, competitive teams, camps, clinics, and individual player development.
Responsibilities may include planning and delivering age-appropriate training sessions, creating positive and challenging learning environments, communicating effectively with players and families, collaborating with other KLSA coaches, and participating in ongoing coach education and development.
Most importantly, coaches should be willing to teach, learn, collaborate, and put the development of the player first.
Who We’re Looking For Previous soccer coaching experience is preferred, but we are also interested in young and developing coaches who have the right personality, mentality, and willingness to learn.
The ideal candidate:
Loves soccer and enjoys working with young players
Is dependable, professional, energetic, and organized
Wants to become a better coach
Is open to feedback and continuing education
Communicates well with players, parents, and fellow coaches
Understands that youth development is a long-term process
Values teaching and development over trophies, status, or soccer politics
Wants to contribute to a positive coaching culture
Is interested in growing their role as the academy grows
Coaching licenses and playing experience are valuable, but character, reliability, curiosity, and alignment with our developmental philosophy matter greatly to us.
Grow With KLSA We don't want to simply hire coaches.
We want to develop coaches.
Our goal is to provide a pathway where a coach can join KLSA, learn our developmental methodology, improve their craft, take on additional responsibilities, increase their coaching hours and compensation, and potentially grow into larger roles within the academy.
For the right people, this is an opportunity to get involved with a growing soccer organization and help shape what it becomes.
Why KLSA? Youth soccer can sometimes become consumed by standings, trophies, league badges, recruiting, and politics.
We want KLSA to be different.
We want to create an environment where player development is the priority, coaches are encouraged to keep learning, and decisions are made based on what helps young players grow.
If that sounds like the kind of soccer environment you want to coach in, we'd love to talk with you.
Join KLSA and help us develop better players, better coaches, and a better youth soccer environment.
