My client is a major asset-based transportation and logistics provider with an established freight brokerage division, looking to appoint an experienced Account Executive to support continued growth across the United States. Unlike a traditional non-asset freight brokerage, the business combines the strength of a substantial asset-based transportation operation with the flexibility and reach of a third-party logistics network. This gives its salespeople a strong commercial platform, with access to both company-controlled transportation resources and an extensive network of third-party carriers.
The position is fully remote to US-based employees and focused on developing new shipper relationships, generating profitable freight business and building a substantial portfolio of customers.
With a base salary of $80,000 - $140,000 plus commission, this is an opportunity for an established logistics salesperson who wants the backing of a major transportation organization while retaining the autonomy to develop their own business.
The Role:
As an Account Executive within the brokerage division, you'll be responsible for identifying, developing and securing new shipper customers across the US transportation market.
You'll work directly with transportation and supply chain decision-makers, understanding their freight requirements and developing solutions that utilise the company's wider transportation capabilities.
One of the key advantages of this opportunity is the ability to offer customers a combination of asset-based transportation services and flexible brokerage solutions, depending on their individual requirements.
You'll be expected to generate your own opportunities, manage your sales pipeline and develop long‑term commercial relationships that deliver consistent revenue and gross profit.
Once new business is secured, you'll work closely with internal carrier sales, pricing and operations teams to ensure successful implementation and continued account growth.
What You'll Be Responsible For: Identify and develop new shipper customers across the United States
Generate new business through outbound prospecting, networking, referrals and existing industry relationships
Build and maintain a consistent pipeline of qualified commercial opportunities
Develop relationships with Transportation Managers, Logistics Directors, Supply Chain leaders, Procurement teams and senior decision-makers
Understand customer freight requirements, shipping volumes, transportation lanes and service expectations
Present solutions combining asset-based transportation capabilities and third-party brokerage services
Develop new business across FTL, LTL and other relevant domestic and cross‑border transportation modes
Identify opportunities where dedicated or asset‑backed capacity can provide additional value
Prepare commercial proposals and negotiate customer pricing
Manage opportunities from initial prospecting through negotiation, closing and implementation
Work closely with carrier sales, pricing and operations teams to ensure customer requirements can be met
Build and maintain long‑term customer relationships
Identify opportunities to increase shipment volumes and expand existing accounts
Monitor customer revenue, gross profit and account profitability
Maintain accurate CRM records, pipeline information and sales activity
Stay informed on transportation market conditions, freight rates and capacity trends
Work towards individual new business, revenue and gross profit objectives
Attend customer meetings where appropriate to develop relationships and secure new business
The Experience We're Looking For
My client is particularly interested in experienced freight brokerage and transportation sales professionals who have a proven ability to win new shipper business.
Ideally, you'll have:
3+ years of experience within freight brokerage, 3PL or asset-based transportation sales
A proven track record of independently developing new shipper customers
Strong customer‑facing sales and business development experience
Demonstrable success generating revenue and gross profit
Experience building and managing a sales pipeline
Strong understanding of the US domestic transportation market
Knowledge of FTL, LTL, cross‑border and other domestic freight solutions
Experience selling brokerage services, asset-based transportation or a combination of both
Understanding of freight pricing, margins and account profitability
Confidence negotiating with transportation and supply chain decision‑makers
Strong commercial awareness and relationship‑building skills
Ability to identify opportunities across different transportation service offerings
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience using CRM systems to manage customer relationships and opportunities
A proactive and self‑motivated approach to business development
Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently in a remote environment
An existing network of shipper relationships or an active, transferable book of business would be highly advantageous.
The Advantage of an Asset‑Based Platform
One of the biggest differentiators of this opportunity is the transportation infrastructure behind the brokerage operation.
Rather than selling exclusively through third‑party carrier relationships, you'll be representing a business with its own established transportation assets alongside a substantial brokerage network.
This creates opportunities to develop more comprehensive solutions for customers, particularly those looking for dependable capacity, flexibility and long‑term transportation partnerships.
For an experienced Account Executive, having both asset‑based and brokerage capabilities available can create a stronger commercial proposition when competing for new business.
You'll also have the support of established carrier procurement, pricing and operational teams, allowing you to concentrate on developing customers and growing revenue.
What Makes Someone Successful Here?
My client is looking for someone who genuinely enjoys winning new business.
You'll need to be comfortable prospecting, developing relationships from scratch and managing opportunities through to close.
The strongest candidates will understand how to sell transportation solutions rather than simply competing on the lowest rate.
You'll be able to identify where asset‑based capacity provides value, where brokerage offers greater flexibility and how to position those capabilities around a customer's wider transportation requirements.
You'll also understand the importance of developing long‑term relationships, maintaining commercial discipline and consistently identifying opportunities to increase customer spend.
Compensation & Benefits: $80,000 - $140,000 base salary, depending on experience and previous production
Additional commission and performance‑based earning potential
100% remote position within the United States
Full‑time permanent employment
Access to an established asset‑based transportation network
Extensive third‑party brokerage capabilities
Dedicated carrier sales, pricing and operational support
Opportunity to develop a substantial portfolio of shipper customers
Long‑term career development and progression opportunities
