What's Awesome About Our Client?
They've built one of the strongest reputations for luxury custom home construction in Montana, delivering some of the most architecturally complex residences in the Mountain West. You'll work on projects that aren't typical custom homes—they're ultra-custom residences ranging from roughly $40M-$100M, requiring exceptional planning, coordination, and attention to detail. Leadership gives experienced Project Managers the autonomy to own their projects while remaining available for guidance and support when needed. The company values quality over volume. Project Managers are trusted to focus on delivering exceptional homes rather than juggling a large number of production-style projects. Turnover is low, the team is collaborative, and the culture is built around professionalism, accountability, and building projects the right way.
Why This Job - Project Manager:
Our client is looking to add an experienced Project Manager to support its growing portfolio of ultra-custom residential projects throughout Big Sky and the greater Gallatin Valley. This is an expansion hire driven by continued growth and several large projects currently in the pipeline. This role is much more involved than a traditional Project Manager position. You'll oversee budgets, estimating, scheduling, forecasting, owner communication, and overall project execution from preconstruction through completion while partnering closely with Superintendents, Project Engineers, architects, designers, and owners' representatives. These projects require constant collaboration and problem solving as designs continue evolving throughout construction rather than simply following completed construction documents. One of the biggest draws of this opportunity is the complexity of the work. The homes you'll manage range from $40M-$100M, involving sophisticated architecture, custom fabrication, and high client expectations. Success comes from understanding constructability, communicating proactively, and leading projects with confidence from groundbreaking through final turnover. The company itself is equally compelling. Leadership has built a stable, respected organization over nearly two decades while maintaining a collaborative, non-corporate culture. Project Managers are trusted to make decisions, communicate openly, and focus on building exceptional projects rather than navigating layers of bureaucracy. If you're looking to manage some of Montana's most prestigious custom homes alongside an experienced team that values craftsmanship, transparency, and long-term relationships, this is an exceptional opportunity. What You'll Actually Do: Lead ultra-custom residential projects from preconstruction through final completion, owning budgets, estimating, scheduling, forecasting, and overall project performance. Develop and maintain project budgets while proactively tracking cost-to-complete forecasts and communicating financial updates. Partner with Superintendents and Project Engineers to coordinate project execution, scheduling, and weekly planning. Collaborate with Project Engineers to support and review estimating efforts Lead owner, architect, consultant, and contractor meetings while serving as the primary communication point throughout construction. Review plans for constructability, value engineering opportunities, and budget alignment before construction begins. Manage subcontractor coordination, contract execution, change orders, and schedule impacts throughout each project. Conduct quarterly project reviews with leadership covering budget performance, project health, scheduling, lessons learned, and recovery plans when needed. Help mentor Project Engineers while contributing to continuous improvements in estimating, planning, and project delivery.
